Euro sweepstakes silver medal has been cast

Are you in the final four to win this awesome piece of sand cast silver? Well if you are one of the four you will be getting hive and 14 grams of sterling silver designed and cast by me.

The design was printed using a resin 3d printer and you can see it here offered up to the casting flask which is a little oversized for this but it is the smallest i own at the moment.

I love looking at the impression left in the casting sand as it gives you an idea of how your casting will turn out.

The mould is clamped together and molten silver is poured into the top filling the void left in the sand.

This was the first look of the casting and i was very pleased, now it was time to cut off the sprue and cut and polish the casting.

Believe it or not this has been polished but it is still full of polishing compound which will be cleaned off in a sonic cleaner and then one final hand polish and back into the sonic cleaner.

Here is the only side view i shot before i put it into the coin flip but you can see it is quite chunky.

This is to help with the scale but it is just a bit smaller than a half dollar or a 50p coin.

There is still some evidence of casting marks on the back but this is part of the charm of sand casting.

I also cast these two pendants for @stickupboys @stickupmusic this morning, if you havent checked these guys out you should as they produce some class music and are quite comical with the GIF's.
