2020 KITSUNE "Mask of the Fox" Silver

Presenting another 2020 silver round by the Intaglio Mint, a first in the Japanese Theatre Mask Series.

The Kitsune mask is a mask of a fox. It has meaning in religion and folk tradition. In Japanese culture, Fox has contradictory behavior. It can be benevolent (good) or malevolent (evil) depending on the situation.

Noh (Nō, derived from the Sino-Japanese word for “skill” or “talent”), is a major form of classical Japanese dance-drama that has been performed since the 14th century. Developed by Kan’ami and his son Zeami, it is the oldest major theatre art that is still regularly performed today. Although the terms Noh and nōgaku are sometimes used interchangeably, nōgaku encompasses both Noh and kyōgen. Traditionally, a full nōgaku program includes five Noh plays with comedic kyōgen plays in between; an abbreviated program of two Noh plays with one kyōgen piece has become common today. Optionally, an okina play may be presented at the very beginning of the nōgaku presentation.

Noh is often based on tales from traditional literature with a supernatural being transformed into human form as a hero narrating a story. Noh integrates masks, costumes and various props in a dance-based performance, requiring highly trained actors and musicians. Emotions are primarily conveyed by stylized conventional gestures while the iconic masks represent roles such as ghosts, women, children, and the elderly. Written in late middle Japanese, the text “vividly describes the ordinary people of the twelfth to sixteenth centuries”. Having a strong emphasis on tradition rather than innovation, Noh is extremely codified and regulated by the iemoto system.

Acquiring the current year release of bullion silver coins from the different World Mints as they are released is an enjoyable and easy way to stack silver and save value.

Slow and steady, I've added to my stack by exchanging fiat currency for real money in the form of silver coins & rounds. These are the 2020 World Mint coins that I have shown on my blog so far:

Hi, @dfinney! Thanks for stopping by! I share your opinion on this coin. I think it is an excellent one to have.
Nope... that did not originate from me that the Kitsune is the first in the series. It was Mark who did when he first showed in last March, LOL!

And I am eager to find out what the next one will be. Sometimes he comes out with two designs in the same series in a year.
I hope your day is going very well, dear friend. Take care 🥰🌺🤙

You are welcome, @goldrooster. At the beginning of the year, I decided to use my blog to document the 2020 coins I have, although not immediately or in the order when I get them in. In hindsight, I should have done that and further indicate the date and spot price when I acquired it. But who thought that the spot price was going to be this volatile!
Thanks for checking out this silver, @goldrooster, and take care 🥰🌺🤙

Cool, I was thinking of making my own mask for a few photo shots in a future story arc. Japanese kabuki operas tend to be long epic stories and it goes the same for several popular Japanese anime series too.
I admit that sort of inspired my long Story telling.
Its after 1 pm and I'm running out of steam.
Always 🤗 👺 💓 🎎 🌺

There you go... another story! Your imagination and creative mind just keep generating stories that are waiting to be in print, sis. In contrast, I sometimes think I am brain dead specially now in COVID times particular these past weeks. Pre-covid, my head seems to have a dial and as soon as I step out of my car in the office lot, the dial is turned to whatever and... viola!!! Superchick! Hahaha! But where is my energy now?
That's your internal clock telling you to rest, sis! It is your day off, isn't it?
Well, enjoy your day, my lovely sis @kerrislravenhill. Take care🥰🌺🤙 and xoxo 🤗💕💋!

I am glad that you like this silver. It is interesting that the mint that produced it started this design series. I do like it very much and look forward to the next one in the series.
It is interesting how I continue to learn more about world history through stacking.

Oh! Good then! But I think that several here can say the same, @stokjockey, LOL! There are many silver designs shown here on Hive that has been the first times for me to see. Several of those were from your articles, my friend! Remember @silveringots. Did you not enjoy all the vintage bars he had shown? He was a great resource. I think that every single piece he has shown was the first time for me to see!!!
Have a good evening, my friend @stokjockey. Take care 🥰🌺🤙

It is hard to pick, but I think that the Swan series is one of my favorites, sweet @dswigle. I like the elegant design of the Australian Swan coins. Here are all four coins in the Swan series. I only get one coin a year made by world mints and the Swan is no exception. But in hindsight, I should have gotten at least two of each Swan.

You are really special, my friend, and endearing 🤗 to me that you noticed that I've been picking up 1888 coins.
Luv ya 😍, take care 🥰🌺🤙

I read about the art of making Japanese theater mask... and you are right... it is spiritual! I've only watched Japanese theater on TV. So very interesting... their movements, posture, and how each actor's mask plays a critical role in conveying the emotions going on in the drama/play.
I am glad that you also like the coin. I like it very much! 🥰🌺🤙.

It sure is. I think that all mints have outdone themselves in the designs of the bullion coins and rounds this year. And it gets better every year. It makes me look forward eagerly to the 2021 releases. The mint designers, artists, and engravers are all so talented! I appreciate your thoughtful comment, @tattoodjay. Take care 🥰🌺🤙.
