#silverpornsaturday: 1921 PEACE DOLLAR My Best Toned Silver Coins #4

avatar
(Edited)

The silver coin I am featuring today is my favorite U.S. Silver Dollar.
And it is a beautiful toner!

1921 $1 High Relief, Peace (Regular Strike)

The 1921 Peace Dollar is the only year of a High Relief Strike. This issue features no mintmark. The Philadelphia Mint did not produce a mintmark.

David Hall, founder of the Professional Coin Grading Service, commented as follows: (David Hall's Inside View, No. 125, 1991, p. 2.)

The 1921 High Relief Peace dollar is one of America's all-time classic coin issues. It's the first Peace dollar, it's a one year-only type coin, and it's a gorgeous coin.

Striking: High Relief 1921 Peace dollars were difficult to strike properly with one blow of the coining press. Nearly all known specimens are lightly struck on the hair at the center of the obverse and often at the center of the reverse as well. In fact, fewer than 10 1921 Peace dollars out of 1,000 are very sharply struck…Often, a high-grade 1921 Peace dollar will show a subdued white frost in the areas of light striking on the obverse; this represents the surface of the original planchet.

Circulated grades: A number of authorities have considered the 1921 in worn grades to be among the top three or four rarest coins in the Peace series. For example, Anthony Swiatek, writing in the Highfill Encyclopedia, considered it in circulated condition to be the fourth rarest coin of the design. The Guide Book lists the issue in worn grades among the highest valuations in the Peace series, perhaps giving reinforcement to the standard rarity concept.

Naturally toned coins are the result of a long and slow process in which chemicals in the environment affect the surface of the coin. Many of these silver coins toned as a result of the way they were stored for a long period of time.

I think I figured it out @silversaver! I use Steemit to upload photos because it's faster, but I use Steempeak for everything else except my SSG post and that's always on Steemleo.
When someone puts in a tag like Steemleo, or steemsilvergold etc in their post, it get's posted under "POST" only, this is for just communities. Then for the whole steem world to see, you need to resteem this post right away, and then it will show up in "BLOG" and also in "POST".
On Steempeak you can check our SSG community, there is a community tab along the top. I found your post there today, but most people are still using the tag steemsilvergold and you can find everyone else under steemsilvergold "FEED"......

I will check both ways everyday from now on to make sure I find everyone....I hope this helps😀
Have a wonderful Sunday my friend!!😍😀🤗

I wonder if they will do a 1 oz gold version for it, just like the Centennial Gold versions of the Walker, Standing Liberty, and Winged Liberty. Thanks for being here, @stokjockey.
Have a fantastic evening, and take care 🥰🌺🤙.

I remember mrmonkeyswag96 discussing this HR coin and that the Bankers were complaining that the coins weren't Stackable in tidy columns for their counting purposes. Pft!
Always, with love 🌺🤗💝🌹😊

Pft alright!!! Good luck in stacking these... pretty hard to find at prices reasonable enough for stacking. 1921s are more for collecting, for me anyway. I can't afford to get another one, and I have not found a reasonably priced (for my budget, that is) one to complete my graded set of Peace Dollars.
Have a great evening, my sweet sis @kerrislravenhill, take care 🥰🌺🤙 and a million Hugs and Kisses 🤗💕💋!
