Unboxing Another AWESOME Raffle Prize Win

It is #silverpornsaturday Silver Gold Stackers! Let me show you what I recently won from a raffle hosted by @silverd510, who incidentally initiated the #silverpornsaturday tag.

I acquired a couple of these when they first came out.

I personally can not have enough of Mermaids because it is one of the two mythical creature designs in silver that I like, the other one being the dragon!

And my bestie @silverd510 knows me very well. I really, really wanted this one and I am super happy that won this one!!!

THE MERMAID, Intaglio Mint

– 1 TROY OUNCE – 39MM

Obverse: The detailed underwater depiction of a Mermaid, centered, with two additional Mermaids to the left and right, with a shipwreck in the background, and a bed of skulls and ship parts in the foreground. “THE MERMAID,” across the top circumference.

Reverse: Intaglio Mint logo set on radial burst surrounded by stippled border reading “ONE TROY OUNCE” above and “.999 FINE SILVER” below on textured background. The limited-edition would be flanked by mintage year in roman numerals “MMXX”, in place of the beads. Source
Intaglio Mint is a private, boutique minting operation that is truly a “small” mint comprised of just three people in total! Mark Bogani is the founder and CEO of Intaglio Mint. He is a coin collector who loves to conceptualize and design. The other two artists and craftsmen in Intaglio Mint are Timothy Grat and Tony Grat. I think that they are three of the best in the business!

Oh my, this round is on my shopping list too.
A recent Ebay auction saw it just slip out of my reach and running beyond my budget for the month. So I ended up scoring only The Kraken of the same Mint. And I know how you love Mermaid theme Sis.

I sure do love them, sis. I really like all silver, but like you, I need to set limits to special purchases [ American icons, Ships, Dragons and Mermaids ] outside of the foundation of my stack of bullion coins. It takes time to gain maturity in stacking and I do have pieces that I may soon convert to gold only because they just don't "belong".

Is your coin the same as the advertising? Yours looks like a Proof, while the other is a Brilliant Uncirculated.

There is only one finish available for this silver round, and it is the same for both sizes 1 oz and 2 oz. The obverse field of this piece is shiny and the engraved design is a satin finish. In the reverse, it is a satin finish, but the design going around the edges of the round are textured finish. It is really nicely struck and outstanding details. My photos do not do justice to it.

This article will be part 1 of the Mermaid series, LOL! I have three coins to show with Mermaids.. in time. I really like mermaids, and I dunno why! I scuba dive, although the last time was two years ago. And when I am underwater, I imagine all sorts of things, mermaids included, LOL!
