Vintage 1986 Reliable Corp Statue of Liberty Round BU

Thanks to technological advancements, investing has never been more accessible or well-liked. It is far simpler for the typical person to invest in almost anything nowadays than it was even 20 or 10 years ago. Silver coins, bars, and rounds benefit from this as well, making it one of the most popular investments and safe-havens for wealth.

Many continue to wonder if it would be a worthwhile investment and if it would meet their demands. This is contingent upon the risk you take, the diversity of assets, and investing goals. The inherent volatility of silver and the need for storage (if you decide to keep ownership) are some of its disadvantages. In my opinion, it's still one of the best options.

1986 Reliable Corp Statue of Liberty Round

This vintage silver round is relatively hard to find, although the last time I looked, there were two for sale (though no longer cheap).

Obverse: The Statue of Liberty is shown with her torch extended on the obverse. Laurel leaves encircle the statue on either side on the bottom half of the round, while eight stars adorn the upper half of the circle. On either side are the years 1886 and 1986, which stand for the Statue of Liberty's centennial year.

Reverse: The poem that is etched on the Statue of Liberty serves as the main focal point of the reverse. Around the perimeter of the circle, there are multiple tiny inscriptions. "ONE TROY OUNCE.999+ FINE SILVER-BY RELIABLE CORP" is printed over the top of the one. "STATUE OF LIBERTY CENTENNIAL" is written at the bottom of the sign.

Emma Lazarus wrote the poem/sonnet:

Emma Lazarus, born on July 22, 1849, in New York City, was a prominent American poet. She was of Portuguese Sephardic Jewish descent and her writing often reflected her Jewish heritage. Lazarus was a passionate advocate for immigrants and their rights, which is evident in her famous poem, “The New Colossus.” Lazarus wrote “The New Colossus” in 1883 as part of an auction to raise funds for the pedestal on which the Statue of Liberty would stand. While the poem initially received little attention, it gained significance years later when the words were engraved on a bronze plaque and affixed to the Statue of Liberty. Emma Lazarus passed away at the age of 38 in 1887, but her words continue to inspire millions around the world.1

The New Colossus
BY EMMA LAZARUS
Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
“Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!” cries she
With silent lips. “Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

You are so correct @silversaver888 it has never been easier to invest in silver or gold. As a kid I had maybe one or two small coin shops in town, and they had no competition. Consequently, they were higher priced.
Online didn’t even exist !😇

Thank you, @thebighigg ! You know that I stack them a little at a time, but I started with vintage silver rounds when I saw the value of them. It's not until three years later that you see your progress, and that furthers my motivation to hunt for them. Someday, I'll move towards vintage bars, but I can't afford it at this time.

I never knew the preamble to the famous line. Makes sense!

“Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!”

We are not interested in the legends and myths of the European tradition.

Emma Lazarus was moved by the plight of immigrants, especially the Jewish refugees from Russia who faced persecution and pogroms. Also the 1880s drove many westwards to the USA when the Nazi began organized massacres against Jewish people in Germany. She wanted to express her vision of America as a refuge and a hope for the oppressed.
