Darkest Dungeon - Game review
Welcome Guys!
In this post I want talk about game Darkest Dungeon. This game made me feel so anxious, when I send my heroes for a quest. All start in small city called Hamlet. There we can prepare for a mission, recover mental of our heroes and buy necessary items, which are needed to survive.. yeah survive is good word to describe this game, but heroes can die and death last forever.. Prepare well or die like a fool. Remember this words.
I started from making team for exploring ruins somewhere near the city..
I didn't know that this mission will be really dangerous for player like me, who have no experience in that kind of games.
I created team with smile on my face, I thought that is gonna be easy, but it was not easy, it only look like easy task at the beginning.
My heroes were relaxed, they didn't know what gonna happen inside this ruins.
They fought with skeletons with fire in the eyes, they was prepared well for that fight!
All goes really well, our team didn't lose much hp and their stress level was really low. I made a common mistake, because I thought that campfire can be used more than once and I buffed all my heroes after this battle and healed their wounds. It was big mistake, because it was just start of my journey here.. The problem is that campfire can be used only once.. what a mistake!
My good prepared team started exploring the ruins one more time!
Once again I found some skeleton, which was not friendly at all. They or us. This can end only with imminent battle!
It was a critical hit, which killed him instantly!
Skeletons were weak, my team was buffed so my heroes didn't receive a good damage from skeletons attacks!
But Skeletons was not a big problem at this moment of combat.. The biggest enemy of my team was their stress. They fought in darkness, they started losing their mind so quickly, when stress level is 100 or above.
Let's spread some blight around!
Someone need a heal party spell? Indeed!
Still battles was kinda easy, my team looks so powerful!
I won another battle and I gather some stuff from corpses!
This is not the end, we need explore more these ruins!
This battle look for hard one. So better be concentrated!
My debuffer started fight with 2/3 of his health and his stress level was really high. That was beginning of our problems..
Monster master didn't deal any damage to skeleton with golden cup. This one was more powerful than these, which we fought before.
With little problems and some health loses I won this battle.
Next battle looks, like we need to defeat really powerful humans!
This tank make me think that not gonna be easy.
My knight fought bravely in this battle!
Just look at this damage, which he deal to enemies!
We won and then I explored some area around me!
Another battle with really exhausted team!
And the last battle, which was really last one..
Look at hp of my healer. He barely can fight, because he lost so many hp during last fight.
I changed order of my team, because healer was not able to fight from second position. That locked some of my skills, but I had no choice..
Godard was not prepared for death, he want to survive! You remember that important word from beginning?
He can dodge maybe one max 2 attacks, but then he got heart attack and pass away..
My hero dies, but battle was on early stage compared to health of all units in this battle. I know that I can't suffer that pain. I know that all my heroes can die, here on battlefield.
Skeleton hit really hard my knight. He lost many hp.
I lost another brave hero.
I let him die.. I didn't know what to do..
I can't accept that lost of my favorite hero, I was in battle rage and I want kill them all!
This is third hero, which walk through death door. He know that end is near.. there will be no future.. only darkness.
Life is like a open book, we can read and write our stories, but end in time, when book close for forever.
She didn't die during this attack, but after that she pass away..
My brave knight dies almost after her..
Situation look really dramatic. So many corpses of friends lay around.. Monster master, can you believe that you can survive with so many wounds. Would your will to live will defeat path to death?
I know is really stressful to fight alone with so low hp. Now or never. Can you survive?
Skeleton looks like they want finish my hero. Knifer deal critical damage and open death door for my last hero..
Caunter please don't die!
My last hero dodges 2 attacks and I decided to abandon this mission. I thought that all will be fine..
I ran away from this battle.
But my hero knows that end is near and he can't survive..
I lost all my heroes, but I won many battles. I back to the town without any of my comrades.
They paid ultimate price - death price for accomplishment of this mission.
Caunter had full level of stress, he saw death of all his friends.
At the beginning of the game I read that note, didn't know that this gonna happen so fast..
My opinion about this game is really important. You need to decide what to do. You can't wait till the end, because all your heroes can die and you can't recover them. Game is really hard even, if look easy at start. Battles are brave, heroes push their limits away, they lost mind, when fight in darkness. Battle music is so epic, bring me to the place where all happens. Small mistakes like this one with campfire can bring death to all of you heroes. Laughter can turn to despair. If you are weak, this game is not for you. Play at your own risk, your mentality can't be totally restored after heroes lost.
Oh yes, this game is really, really hard! But once you get into the rhythm of things, and be really careful, it's a fun and challenging game! 😁
I think all very-first parties will die unless you already know the game and what to expect. It's how you learn so your next attempt will be better! 🙂
I reconsider to playing from the start again, because I think I really like these first heroes!
I had no fun, when skeletons kills all my heroes, I was in big shock.
I need to make revenge on them!
Yeah of course I need practice and get some experience in that game or I will lose more heroes I can't let them die!
Yes, take your revenge!!! 😈😁
I hope your next attempt goes better and your heroes live to tell their tales!
Yeah they need to tell their tales with a mug of a beer in tavern from their adventure, I know it for sure! ;)
I love the hand drawn art style in this game. It’s unique. The narrator is also somewhat of a legend. I’ve used several of his quotes in my DnD games
When I saw this game on youtube first time I know I need to give it a try.
Really epic battle music I just can't stop hearing it!
Yeah Narrator brings me to the times, where everything happens!
He should get award for his speech!
Such a good game but unfortunately all your warriors died... Next time you'll survive the whole game.
Yeah that's bad, but I will try next time to finish with all alive :P
I stopped playing after 20hrs because Steam kind of got my saves deleted. It was hard to continue afterwards after all the hardwork like, got lost. But thinking of coming back once my back catalog is checked out halfway.
I have this game on epic games, so I hope so that there will be no problems with saves.

Nice review. I once tried it during a Steam Sale but just could not get past the difficulty curve. It takes quite a bit of time to get into and I would say it is only recommendable if you have some time to sink into learning it properly instead of just looking for a 30 minute distraction.
Yeah, this game is not easy, you need focus, every small thing you make during dungeon matters.
Wow, Darkest Dungeon would be my one-love game if I didn't have, say, Don't Starve. Losing experienced adventurers is a pain, of course but that's what adds a particularly grim rogue-like charm to it (aren't you supposed to retreat if you truly care about their lives?)
I can say that I played it for first time, when someone of my heroes dies, so maybe better for me was experience their limit and then death to know what can happen in the future with experienced heroes. Didn't know that hero can die after battle, but now I know xD
