Hill Climb Racing is a 2D driving game in which you get behind the wheel of a truck with the aim of driving as far as possible. The controls in Hill Climb Racing are really simple. You have the brake pedal on the left and the accelerator pedal on the right. And that's it. As you play, you can improve the performance of your vehicle with the money you earn. When you start out, your car will be very limited in its performance, but little by little you can upgrade the axle, the suspension or the tires, so that it becomes much more stable. And, of course, you can also paint your car different colors and unlock new vehicles. In Hill Climb Racing you will find more than a dozen different vehicles, including motorcycles and tanks, to name just a couple of examples.

The game features over 30 maps with diverse themes, such as the Canyon, Moon, Highway, Rooftop, Desert, and Arctic. Each map not only has unique terrain and obstacle designs but also possesses distinct physical properties, including ground resistance, friction, gravity environment, and terrain incline. For instance, snow-covered maps have slipperier ground, the Moon map has lower gravity, and the Highway map has ground with lower elasticity

The game's operational techniques are not limited to ground driving. When a vehicle is airborne, tapping the accelerator raises the front, and tapping the brake lowers it. Players need to use these controls flexibly to adjust the vehicle's posture for a smooth landing. For the start of a race, it is recommended to press the accelerator when the countdown reaches "2" to achieve the optimal launch speed, but it's important to note that vehicles with insufficient traction may wheelie due to excessive acceleration.
