City of Akvamarin
Newsletter September 28, 2020
From: The Lord Mayor Leonis

Dear citizens,

I have accepted a position in President @ecoinstant's administration. As the title suggests, I will be doing things in the realm of health and human services. DCity has been fortunate to not suffer noticeable impact due to the global pandemic.

With the current administration's support, I have commissioned a "secret" project. This will focus on any anticipated health concerns over the foreseeable future. I will be mobilizing our city's scientific talents to pioneer that front. The location of such undertaking will also be confidential. Should the world find out where it takes place? So be it.

As for human services, the best place to start is always at home. The City of Akvamarin has stalled the overflowing homeless and immigrants problem. The city is now equipped with resources to turn them into productive members of society. Federal funding from the current administration has made it possible. Should that change in the future, the city council will allocate resources as needed.

The current strategy does not solve the problem. It would require more heavy-handed approach in advanced training to achieve our goal. In the meantime, our job centers do give us the slight advantage in the direction of productivity.

"But hold on Lord Mayor", you would say. "What about our unemployed citizens?" I would like to point out that we put more of our citizens into jobs daily than the initiative above. The city went as far as establishing a social aid office to relieve the unemployed.

The social aid division has a planned budget. What this means is that we no longer have to deal with extraneous costs that come with unemployment. By the grace of the federal subsidies and private philanthropies, it is sustainable.

The city is expanding daily. There will be enough jobs for everyone. Most of our unemployment spikes come around major expansions to the city each month. Those are people seeking opportunities and we shall grant those.

Finally, I take note on the nationwide bidding of pro gamers to supplement the e-sports scene. While this is not a top priority for the council, it is in the considerations. After all, we do have a significant university-aged population. However, I do not expect Akva to compete with larger cities in bids in the short-term.

         Signed,

It looks like you are having a really great time with this game! I just started playing a couple other ones on Hive the other day. It is a ton to keep up with. I have some other stuff coming my way as well on other chains.

It's a lot of stuff. I've decided to focus on a few that I like. Can't spread myself too thin.

Smart thinking. Something may need to give on my side of things soon.

People try to "maximize" so much.

There needs to be so much stuff going on it's impractical for anyone to be in everything. Then, we will see a more organic ecosystem.
