Not Amazing, but It'll do

Going through with it

Over the week or so since posting my efforts to begin streaming, I have been able to stream twice in which were my test streams for the most part. I am still scared to get myself out there and stream on my own, which limits my time to play and broadcast but I'm content. I get to chill out with my friends and play some games and maybe make some money off of it, who knows.

First stream problems

As I had explained in my first post, OBS Streamlabs gave me an option to automatically adjust my settings from my upload restriction so I used them. Unfortunately those settings didn't work too well for online games so the stream had to be restarted a couple times and some problems still came up. My first issue began with my stream skipping between 35-45% of my frames constantly. I was luckily able to correct that with reducing my bitrate a little bit but the video was still quite choppy for my liking.

Stick through it

After my third time restarting the stream, I decided to just kind of stick through the other problems I was having. The stream wasn't cutting out as much as before and I didn't want to bother the imaginary viewers haha. Furthermore, I also thought that I knew what to do next so I'll just do it after stream and everything will be set good for the next stream. (Spoiler: I got it perfect!)

Honestly, the settings probably would've been fine as they were but I am glad I went in to fix it. Rocket League, the game I was playing, was giving me pretty decent spikes which made it hard to get out of my zone and just let go and try to be entertaining.

Round 2

I'd say round 2 mostly went much smoother than the first, I got my settings pinned down and felt confident enough to put it as my discord tag and post on twitter about it. We played Rocket League again but I hope to play some other games. I don't know if my computer can handle warzone and streaming but I'll definitely be streaming toxic/funny games of Rainbow Six Siege and some Apex legends. Basically any game I can get my hands on and that might be entertaining for people to watch me play.

I know my settings are lackluster and are not going to be the best viewing experience, but I hope to improve them when I can afford better internet. As much as I want to do 60FPS output, I don't think my upload speed can handle that, and 30 is way better if it is stable compared to 60 but drops here and there. My brother in law had told me to do 720P with some compression, so that's exactly what I had done with some extras. Although it hurts me deeply, I lowered my audio bitrate as any little bit of extra upload I can get, I'll take.

Happy Endings

I am extremely pleased with myself. Although it's going to be a rough start, I'm going to do everything I can to keep this going and see if I have what it takes. The overlays I made look amazing, specifically the game overlay. Some of my friends have had issues with white, jagged edges on the inside of their overlays, along with looking low-res. After looking on my stream, mine look sleek and cool with no issues at all which is exciting! The lag and skipped frames are minimal and hopefully it stays that way. Now I just have to get a twitter following so I can tweet that I'm live and people see it excluding the guys playing with me 😂. I know that problem though, I just need to use more hashtags and actually use my twitter for once.

Speaking of, I make twitch overlays and media packages! Contact me if you would like one made! | Discord - KrypticDesigns#3773

But anyway, that's all for this post. Just wanted to talk about what's going on in my head and hopefully publicly talking about it will keep me motivated to not give up.

Thank you all for reading...
Until next time.

I am really happy to hear that you were able to work out most of the glitches. I hope you get the rest all sorted out. I've always wanted to spend some time on Twitch just watching, but then I end up doing other random stuff and I never get around to it!

I feel that, I usually don't watch too much Twitch but I've found myself binging certain entertainers when I'm playing chill games. Just something to listen to but not be completely invested in it.

Good luck if you ever get around to watching streams, depending on the streamer you may find yourself in an ocean of 8 year olds

Yeah, my nieces and nephews were watching some Fortnite guy the other day on YouTube and it was beyond annoying to me! :)

Streaming is quite the process. That’s the main reason I never do it. I also have only so much time to game and would rather just play without being live, I still can record videos that way at least.

1000%. I had only streamed maybe 3 hours but I was mentally dead within 20 minutes after the stream ended.

It's good you have time to record, you make some really good videos. Speaking of, loved the prank call video you posted a bit ago 👍

I'd record, but I just can't stand the editing. I spend hours on the most basic stuff and do not promote enough for it to be worth it. I'm working on the promoting though.

Thanks bro! I have so much fun making videos. I feel like we both will continue to get better with each one that we post.

My PS5 makes recording and editing a breeze. I have 30 minutes on my lunch break now and I’m about to edit 4 different videos using ShareFactory Studio. The only thing that really takes a long time is the rendering process once I’m finished.

Oh for sure!

Share Factory Studio? I've never heard of that. I used to use a free version but I don't remember what it was called, now I use premiere.

If you get a free second and wanna see how bad I am at it, I'll link a video. It's no com. and a design I made but the cuts and everything about it is bad in my opinion.

It’s only on PlayStation consoles. It’s a free video editing software.

I just got back to work. I have this saved, I’ll check it out tonight once I’m back home. I promise.

That makes more sense, well hey if they make it easy then that's a huge accomplishment.

No worries! I don't mean to add to your busy schedule, just a reference of how far I have to go.

I’m not too busy to check out your hard work bro. I look forward to seeing it.

I don’t think you are bad at editing. I believe the issue of you not seeing your own greatness may lie in the fact that the video is only of your design process. That concept kind of restricts what you can do with your edit. You’re just showing your steps and adding in some music. I think it’s a good video and shows us how you created the design, but you can only do so much with that kind of footage.

You may be able to test your editing skills more by trying new styles of video content. I can’t tell you what exactly you should try to do, but I know I enjoy editing videos of myself talking or doing things.

I also think helping other users that you know in real life create an #introduceyourself video may be fun. I can show you a few examples of videos like that which I filmed and edited. It is these styles of videos that really made me get interested in editing film.

Okay thank you! I will try my luck with some other content and maybe I'll like it a bit more. My perfectionist mindset always comes in with this stuff.

I already think you’re doing great. Was just trying to give you some more ideas.
Being a perfectionist at heart makes completing things difficult at times. Always wondering how we can make it just a little bit better, I know how that is.

Cool to see things moving forward! I haven’t been able to catch you online yet. I ordered a new mic to get better voice audio on my videos. Went with the Blue Yeti. Gotta ramp up that production value!

All good, I hope to stream pretty often so catching me online won't be too hard.

Congratulations on the Yeti! I have a Yeti X and it's not bad, but I'm not great with the settings so if you can get those under control, you will be sounding like an absolute talk-show host.
