Characters who steal the limelight

avatar

Greetings Gamers, what if today we do a top 5 characters who stole the limelight in video games, on other occasions we have had bosses, more difficult and even villains but now we will address a concept that I have not heard much, it is about stealing if you can call him so the protagonist to a video game character, ie where a character who is not the protagonist gets the most attention from the public, either because the protagonist had no charisma or because the writer himself wanted it.

Number 5

I have to include it because I would be missing something that is quite obvious, in the delivery of Far Cry 3 the protagonist is Jaison Brody a young American who goes with his girlfriend and friends to some islands in Asia, where they end up kidnapped by a band of pirates who want to ask reward for their release, the thing is that this extremist group is known for its brutality, Jaison being the protagonist dies of fear at the beginning even has to see how his brother who is a man with military experience dies in his arms, trying to flee the place.

One of the leaders of this gang, without being the main antagonist of the story, Bash Montenegro steals the spotlight, showing an irreverent attitude in his dialogues and acting, going from calm to anger as if it were a monologue for himself, with that phrase that went viral, "the definition of madness" made everyone forget the protagonist that without attitudes of contempt was in the background in this story.

Number 4

In Final Fantasy 8 my second favorite game of the Final Fantasy saga Squall is the protagonist of this story, but he is a person nothing charismatic, is what we know as the typical emo, does not want to be with anyone talk to anyone or do anything in particular, everything makes him lazy embarrassment or bothers him, basically it seems that only enjoys the fights and being a soldier, has several scenes where they try to involve him emotionally in the story but this is elusive to almost everything, Zell Dincht is a student of Gabaldia, he uses his fists as a weapon, he is always active and is very emotional, but he has charisma, his design with the tattoo on his face made many people tattooed in the same way, but he hides an important past in the main story, he is funny and charismatic, he is my favorite character of this game.

Number 3

Raiden from Metal Gear Solid this character was included by Hideo Kojima in search of doing something different with his saga, giving us a character very different from Snake with a deeper level of narrative, where Jack which is his real name was trained as a soldier from the beginning in a military project after being able to escape from everything that was trying to rejoin society with many failures is betrayed by his partner, having an incredible past and evolution.

Number 2

In the Final Fantasy saga is easy to get attached to one or more characters as they tend to deepen their stories making you identify with one or another story, in the case of Final Fantasy IX is not once again the protagonist, but Vivi a small dark magician with a lot of power that come from a remote village, but if you know his roots Vivi thinks that he comes from a fog machine and that his life has no meaning, digging into the depths of existentialism, this character asks several questions without giving up and supported by his friends Vivi's story is touching while being the only magician in the game make it one of my favorite characters.

Number 1

Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII is the antagonist of the series but the more you get into his story both in Final Fantasy Crisis Core and FF7 you realize how he became the bad guy, what drove him to be who he is, how he was corrupted by power, having one of the designs that most command respect in the world of video games, As a child I always wanted to have him in the team, in the game you only get a small taste of what it's like to have him in the team in one of the memories, the truth for me steals the protagonist of Cloud, which for me is the best protagonist of stories in video games.

Vaas is my favorite by far, and they have tried to replicate it in the following FC titles, but nobody is like Vaas

true, Vaas completely stole the limelight in FC3 and true they tried to replicate his characteristic calm insanity, with Pagan Ming and that other nut that was in charge of the cult (i stopped playing this copy pasted FC games halfway through FC5), but what do you mean nobody likes Vaas? Vaas was a hit!

ah! that makes more sense! :)
dunno if you know, but when they auditioned Michael Mando (Vaas) he was gonna be a small side character. when the producers of FC saw Mando acting "insane" in the audition, like Vaas does, they created the character of Vaas and gave him a big part in the game. they even put Mando's face on the character model of Vaas :D it's super interesting and why i was thinking "nobody likes Vaas??" hehe

Vaas is my favorite character in videogames; The most over the top expressive, and the insane amount of emotional range Michael Nando (Vaas) gave Vass has made Vaas the most memorable character for me, in any game. And he totally stole FC3's limelight 110%.

I have always thought that the screen light is something that should be measured after the game experience is already built up, if one character is good enough it should be able to be more usable than with a fixed and closed story, anyway, such is life, and I'm not close to see a Sephiroth main character game anytime soon...
