Disrupted routine

Having relative in China isn't exactly a convenient thing, especially Chinese cultural and religious practices that involve monetary compensation can be the hardest thing to transmit.

My one last cousin brother in China had passed away yesterday, and since he's the closest human from a direct bloodline of my grandfather, naturally I wanted to send my condolence money to the family to express my feelings about it.

For all you know, the payment gateway for WeChat is only opened for where your bank card registered with. Me, as a Malaysian, do not have a Chinese bank account, neither my cousin a citizen of PRC can't have a Malaysian bank account. No matter how hard I try, nothing goes in to China, and nothing comes out from China.

Fortunately, found a #hive friend from China willing to make a trade and another friend who helped to connect us with my cousin's wife. After spending some HBD, they make "payment" within in land China and crypto make it happened again. Cousin's wife said thank you and we leave her with her busy chores now as my cousin passed away at a different district. They will have to arrange cremation before moving the remains back to their home land.

By the time I realized I've spent hours arranging the condolences money, it was already way too late and I had to crash. Just before I go, suddenly reminds me of a donut I've purchased earlier, and even after the donut I'm still hungry since I haven't eat dinner. There goes the balance of the bananas.

This morning traffic was quite bad, didn't manage to take breakfast during breakfast hour. Before lunch time, I already felt hungry, walked to the mall and grab a sub, toy surprised I totally forgot they serve breakfast until 11. So I hadt brunch instead since it's an hour before lunch break.

By the time everyone come for lunch, I'm already done, had a cup of coffee at Family Mart and went back to office to continue suffer with the work I didn't finish yesterday because my mind was everywhere after learnt that my cousin brother had passed away.

After a screwed up brunch at the wrong time, way before dinner I already felt hungry. Probably using too much of brains, I grabbed some junk food from the pantry and had them shovel into my mouth whilst continue fixing the quotations. By the time I'm home, there's no dinner left. Fortunately home minister boiled two eggs for me and I sent it down my throat with 2 pint of diet coke.

I still miss my one last cousin in China. By tomorrow, his body will be cremated and what left will be a pod of dust. I know it's not about the condolences money, but I had to do it, probably to make me feel a little easier.

Well, this isn't a happy story, and I'm sorry for your loss. I do like that you were able to solve this condolence money transfer with the power of Hive, that's impressive, and a real world example of the blockchain partially solving a problem. At first I thought you put extra goodies on your donut, but then I realized nope, that' just a very hip donut.

Well, he's the last guy in my generation back in China. The feeling is strong.

The transaction was pretty fun actually. Since the party who helped me also aware of the situation, they also send a portion of condolence money to my sister in law. As tradition, family will have to give a small packet back to those who pay respect. So I send even more HBD to them as thank note. There's several back and forth transaction trying to fix a right amount even the money transacted 😂 they feel bad for taking too much from me, I feel bad for not paying enough to them.
