Curry Keng 咖喱皇

Fancy a spicy gravy noodle in Ipoh? Not knowing where is the best place to be? Worry not, Curry Keng is here to serve you.

Curry Keng is not some old school noodle shop. As a matter of fact, owner is new school and know how to deal with modern needs. Perhaps a little too modern, be extremely careful with the cross selling techniques.

Boss is a very active swimming coach, there's a wall of portraits where boss is very proud that the King's family also attending his swimming lessons 🤣 What does it have to do with curry noodle? I don't know, perhaps that's part of the selling point.

Shop is very clean and strategically located about 50 yards from UTC Ipoh. Parking is widely available around this area. Be sure to download the local municipal council parking app, it will only cost you like 50 Malaysian cents an hour(that's like 12 US cents?)

We visited the shop on a bright Sunday afternoon after attended Sunday mass. Arrival before 12 proven to be useful, so we can spot a good seat and not required to take a huge ass queue.

Once again, apology on the bad orientation. #parama doesn't work with vertically oriented photos 😅 check my watermark you'll know it's not my fault. I will bear in mind to take only horizontal shots in future. Anyway, iced coffee is pretty decent. Not the strong type, it's smooth and not too sweet make it very enjoyable.

Here comes the curry noodle. Notice the huge ass herb on top? It's mint leaf. It blends really with the the spicy gravy and added a pinch of freshness into the heavy taste. We only ordered a standard curry noodle with extra roast pork.

Same goes to my dried curry noodle, only roast pork, no fish ball no nonsense. It already came with chicken slice in the noodle, therefore having extra crispy roasted pork is good enough for us.

Apologize for the non-halalness, the braided pig skin is exceptionally good for this instance. We ordered this extra bowl of pig skin to share.

Don't say I didn't warn you, to those who are super health conscious, go only with the curry soup version instead it the dried curry. Dried curry version offered extra sambal and extra chili oil makes it extra tastier, but ofcourse also extra fatter 🤣 heart attack spicy noodle, worth dying for.

Talking about Ipoh seems endless. I've been to Malaysia 4 years ago before Covid-19 but haven't had time to go to Ipoh because I'm busy taking care of my sister who wants to study in KL but someday I will go to Ipoh to visit a typical Indian restaurant that serves Indian noodles👍
