Monkey-B Finds A Hair In The Back Of Her Throat πŸ‘Ž & A Little Gardening Update Too πŸ‘¨β€πŸŒΎ

LIFE.png

While washing dishes, Monkey-B noticed a hair stuck in the back of her throat, and as soon as she had some clean hands she fished the hair out of her mouth.

The Struggle Is Real πŸ‘§

HOOD.png

Β  Β  Β I was running behind schedule all day today, and when I finally got some time to create a post the day was almost gone, a very common situation. I walked outside and found Monkey-B washing the dishes, so I sit down and chatted with here while awaiting photo opportunities.

When Monkey-B began making funny noises, she said she had a hair in her throat, so I acted quick and captured the shot that I used for the thumbnail. I suspect the hair came from the piece of bread she dropped on the ground, causing her to shout out "3 second rule!", meaning as long as you can pick it up in less than 3 seconds, hygiene is not compromised 😜. I often invoked the 3 Second Rule in my youth to recover various dropped snacks, so I naturally have a lot of experience pulling hairs from my mouth too.

Planting Noni Trees 🌱

POV.png

Β  Β  Β I asked my wife to bring back some baby noni trees with her upon her departure from Pursat because there are none in this village. We like to make noni juice and also use the leaves in amok, a traditional Cambodian curry. Noni trees are fighters, unafraid of bad soil or droughts, so they are a perfect choice to help get some roots in our clay.

HGJHG.png

Β  Β  Β We had three trees to plant, so we chose three different locations for planting. She brought back some fruit too, and we are currently fermenting noni as I write this post. Noni juice has a taste not liked by many, but its pungent quality works well in salad dressings and dipping sauces. Noni vinaigrette is something you definitely need to try before you give up on this stinky fruit.

Β  Β  Β After wandering around planting and using the situation for photo ops, it was time to start cooking dinner. We had some pak choy, so I decided to make aloo palak for the family. For whatever reason I didn't take any photos of dinner, but I was quite pleased with accoutrement I prepared while waiting for the potatoes to cook.

Β  Β  Β Some dishes need raw onions, and because Monkey-B and I are raw onion addicts, I made a plate of those, some raw carrots, limes, some green chilies with a bit of salt and lime juice, and some gooseberry and lime pickle.

I love noni juice, but I understand why so many people hate the smell and taste. We just put the ripe fruits in a jar and stick in the sun, and nature does the rest. Because noni has almost no sugar, the fermentation doesn't make alcohol, and instead it's more like a vinegar. It is one of my favorite ingredient use in a salad dressing. Noni is magical.

I read all your stories here guys, a little funny to me about the rule of three seconds when the food falls, hehehehehe.
I also really like gardening, because gardening is also very necessary for us at the time of harvest and we will take the results of our work.
Thank you for sharing.

My parents grew up with the three second rule too, so it must be very old πŸ˜‰. However, this rule can be forgotten if the food is covered in hair or dirt😁. I agree, gardening is very therapeutic, I wish I had more time for it because I have a farming background, but unfortunately I am kind of stuck being a house husband at the moment, doing all the cooking, cleaning, homeschooling, etc. πŸ™

Noni juice hey? Noni is a super food full of so much goodness. I didn't know it was such an easy plant to grow. May your plants bear many fruits.

I didn't know how strong noni was until living here all these years. I've seen noni growing in saturated land, bone dry sandy areas, and countless times I've seen noni growing from the sides of brick walls or through cracks in a road or sidewalk. I still love the OZ name the most, cheesefruit, so appropriate.

Cheesefruit might be an aussie name but I've never seen the tree in back home πŸ˜…

No hair behind my throat. However, there's one time me and my bro competing for noodle eating, I think the extra amount of blackpepper made its way through his windpipe. He had a choke and sneezed. Next thing is, half a piece of noodle dangling out of his nose 🀣 so, none of us manage to finish our noodle after witnessing he pulled that noodle out of his nose 🀣

Hmmm... Noni wine huh πŸ€”

I have blown chicken noodle soup through my nose before in my younger days, a perfectly timed joke was the reason for it though, not black pepper. I have also shot an A&W root beer float out of my nose, don't remember the reason, just the foam πŸ˜†.

Noni juice is not for all, tastes like pineapple juice, blue cheese, and gym socks, but somehow it pleases my taste buds. I don't drink alcohol, so I can't say, but I know people who add sugar to the noni fermentation, and say the wine is much more mild than the juice, makes sense I guess because the sweetness probably makes it more palatable.

We used to do the following dandelion prank when we were kids, very cruel.

Your daughter finds her hair in her throat coming from this food is one of the annoying things to swallow hair especially the hair doesn't know who has it, and I saw several variations of your dinner, but is there no rice on your menu? because several times I have seen in your posts that there are rarely or I have never seen you serve rice as one of the main meals.

A hair in the back of the throat is such an annoying thing, especially when you can't get it out 😁. We always have rice or some kind of Indian bread with our meals, but on this occasion I didn't have time to photograph the aloo palak, only the side dishes. A few times a week we eat noodles too, but we are mostly a rice family.

noni can also be used to speed dry up the sap of the rubber tree

I didn't know that, there are lots of rubber plantations here, makes me wonder if the local farmers know this trick too πŸ€”. When we used to have a noni juice business, our biggest customers were bodybuilders and weightlifters, they buy it to drink before a workout because it contains many amino acids.

In the past, the people in our village used the noni fruit to be mixed with water and then mixed with rubber latex and then waited a few minutes for the sap to harden, but now people are the people in our village already use fertilizer water because it is more practical.

Noni trees are also highly treasured in Borneo for their medicinal properties. I hope that your trees will bear a lot of fruits.

Have you ever tried the juice before? In my experience about 80% of people hate it instantly. Is it a popular folk medicine in your area?
