FLICKERING WHITE SCREEN OF DEATH (Fixed?)

Good morning! Oh, what a beautiful morning because I think I have finally resolved a problem a day ago.

Two nights ago, after posting my drawing here on Hive, my laptop's entire screen suddenly began blinking or flickering white. You can read my post about it here: THE WHITE SCREEN OF DEATH!

I can't even try to turn on the laptop yesterday because I was too nervous and scared to see the screen flickering. Lol. And it makes me sad too. I was actually having doubts whether I could fix the problem and so yesterday, I began searching for new laptops and desktops online just in case the issue is irreparable. Honestly, there are lots of brands and units/models with various specs but almost similar so I am confused at the moment. 😂 Anyway, I have only tried one solution the other night. There are still a few solutions left to try so I have to see if one of them will work on my laptop.

The screen immediately flickered white when I pressed the power button, which is not a good sign. Once I got into the desktop screen, I immediately did the second solution. Changing the refresh rate of the screen. The tutorials say you just have to change it to any number there is as long as it's different from the current. However, I found out that I only have one available for the refresh rate. Then how can I change it?

Changing the refresh rate didn't work and so I have to go to the next and last solution before I open my laptop and check the cables, and that is to update the graphics driver. I don't to try this solution as much as possible because the tutorials say you have to uninstall the driver then get the update. I'm hesitant because what if I failed to update it? The problem might just get worse. But this is the only solution left so I have no choice but to try. What I did was, (without uninstalling the driver) I searched my graphics driver on Google and looked if there is an update available for it. Thank goodness because Intel has a driver and support assistant which automatically searches for updates of your driver.

There was one update available and I downloaded it, I got no choice anyway. Lol.

After a few minutes, a pop up dialog box appeared prompting me to restart the unit. The restart took only a while but loading the desktop took a few minutes. The screen was only gray with only the cursor. I almost thought something went wrong but it got through and my desktop appeared back just like before. Since then, the flickering was gone and it's been already 5 hours after the update. I hope the issue of flickering screen is completely over. I have yet to observe my laptop for a few days before I could say it's finally fixed. And from now on, I will try not to overwork this 9-year-old laptop as much as possible. (Please stay with me until I get enough funds for a new one. 😂)
