My first post in 2021 ... the new year starts almost as the old has ended - the problems are still here and my first post is in Black & White just as my last posts in 2020 have been.

This post is also my first entry in 2021 for the #monomad challenge created by @brumest and hosted by @monochromes.

On January 2, 2021 it was slightly snowing here in town in the valley and I thought I might have a good time driving on a mountain road where I haven't been for quite a while. So, I took my photography gear and drove towards west and later over the "Windische Höhe" pass.
When I arrived at the Farchtensee, which is a little mountain lake next to the pass road, it began to snow more and a bit later I could take the following photos in style "white on white with some shadows" ;)

I know, there's not much to see in the photos, but I quite like this kind of images. Converting the anyway almost #monochrome photos to Black & White made them look even better in my eyes.

Above you can see a double christmas tree - beautiful, but a little bit too high for any home, I believe ;)

A cool looking tree photographed from different angles and zoomed closer. You might recognize a hunters seat on the left side between the branches.

The Snow

It sifts from leaden sieves,
It powders all the wood,
It fills with alabaster wool
The wrinkles of the road.

It makes an even face

Of mountain and of plain, -
Unbroken forehead from the east
Unto the east again.

It reaches to the fence,
It wraps it, rail by rail,
Till it is lost in fleeces;
It flings a crystal veil

On stump and stack and stem, -
The summer's empty room,
Acres of seams where harvests were,
Recordless, but for them.

It ruffles wrists of posts,
As ankles of a queen, -
Then stills its artisans like ghosts,
Denying they have been.

All photos were taken with the Canon EOS R and the Canon EF 70-200mm f/4 L IS II USM lens.

The original photos have a bit of a blueish tone, but are about the same colourless, the black&white conversion looks a bit better in my eyes 👀

Cool, I do hope to have such snowy weather soon again 😄 but here in our area it mostly rains or the snow melts quickly. So I am glad our mountains are not far away 🙂

Later it was snowing even more, but then luckily it almost stopped, because otherwise I might not have been able to get back down to the valley again because of the snow on the road 🤣 bu tit was beautiful indeed, thank you so much @cezary-io 😁

It does look like a beautiful winter wonderland. I really love the first photo with the little cabin.

Neat how you have the double Christmas trees stand out from the background. Maybe that’s my favorite. I can’t decide. :)

that was the only time this winter when I have been out in real heavy snowfall, but I'm hoping for more such days soon 😉

Yes, snow makes all even and cleans dirty and messy places - all looks much cleaner and fresher when that white stuff covers it ;)

Our snow is staying for now and the temperatures are a bit above freezing. I don’t mind a winter when it’s not too cold.

We have -9 C / 16 F outside, so yeah, it's quite cold ❄️😉 but as soon as it gets brighter I want to go for a short walk and maybe take some frosty photos ... or not, I'll see.

Well, it's a bit too cold for swimming here . I have a very busy week, but an idea for a very short post ... maybe I can find some time later, but after looking at 3 monitors for the whole day at work, I sometimes don't even want to turn the computer on at home ☺️

Yep not a ideal time for swimming over there at the moment well Mr @johannpiber you can only do what you can and the real paying job that pays the bills obviously is priority.

This cabin is not a real cabin but only a wooden shed for farm tools and equipment 😉

I couldn't enjoy it for long, because if I had stayed longer the road would have been covered too high with snow to drive and I might have had to wait for hours till it would have been driveable again 😉

That is definitely a lot of snow. There's also something really magical about forest snow that just seems so peaceful and tranquil.

If you look very carefully under the tree you will see me hiding in plain sight enjoying the white powder steadily dropping around.... imagination!

That looks like some heavy falls have been happening, using monochrome definitely brings out more detail.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend cuddled up in front of the fire with a cat on you lap and a !BEER in hand, no need for chilling at all.
