La timidez puede definirse como la sensación de inseguridad o vergüenza en sí mismo, que una persona siente ante situaciones sociales nuevas, y que le dificulta entablar conversaciones o relacionarse con los demás. También cabe dentro de este concepto, la debilidad o poca claridad con que se manifiesta un fenómeno, no necesariamente asociado con un rasgo de la conducta humana.

Las personas tímidas tienden en general, a evitar toda situación en la que piensan que pueden ser rechazadas o ridiculizadas frente a los demás. Con frecuencia dependen en exceso de la opinión de los demás, y buscan agradar y ser aceptados. Pero el temor a no lograrlo hace que eviten muchas situaciones sociales y terminen aislándose, o circunscribiéndose a un pequeño grupo de personas donde se sienten completamente a gusto.

Entre un 40 y un 45% de los adultos presenta rasgos de timidez, y para vencerla, a veces necesitamos la ayuda de otras personas, pero también es cierto que nuestra fuerza interior es mayor de lo que imaginamos, y nosotros mismos podemos motivarnos para llegar a ser más sociables y dejar atrás nuestra timidez.

Por el contrario, un introvertido no es simplemente una persona tímida. En realidad, ser tímido tiene poco que ver con ser introvertido. La timidez tiene un elemento de aprehensión, nerviosismo y ansiedad, mientras que un introvertido no necesariamente tiene que ser tímido, la introversión en sí no es timidez. Básicamente, un introvertido es una persona que está energizada estando sola y cuya energía se drena al estar con otras personas. Es muy frecuente que las personas introvertidas se comporten como extrovertidas cuando están en su círculo de confianza.

Tomé esta imagen tres atrás, durante un paseo al hermoso, pero lamentablemente deteriorado, casco histórico de Puerto Cabello, ciudad portuaria venezolana ubicada a orillas del Mar Caribe. De acuerdo con la leyenda, su nombre provendría de la tranquilidad o mansedumbre de sus aguas, donde podría amarrarse un buque con "una hebra de cabello".

Para modificar la foto original, tal como lo he realizado para publicaciones anteriores, hice uso de la aplicación PicsArt, empleando una superposición de filtros, comenzando con un filtro del tipo HDR (High Dynamic Range) con la finalidad de ampliar los tonos de la imagen original, y posteriormente usé un filtro de Blanco & Negro.

Shyness has an element of apprehension, nervousness, and anxiety, while an introvert doesn't necessarily have to be shy, introversion itself isn't shy. Basically, an introvert is a person who is energized by being alone and whose energy is drained by being with other people. Introverts very often behave like extroverts when they are in their circle of trust.

I took this image three years ago, during a walk to the beautiful, but unfortunately deteriorated, old town of Puerto Cabello, a Venezuelan port city located on the shores of the Caribbean Sea. According to legend, its name would come from the calm or meekness of its waters, where a ship could be moored with "a strand of hair".

To modify the original photo, as I have done for previous publications, I made use of the PicsArt application, using a filter overlay, starting with a filter of the HDR (High Dynamic Range) type in order to enlarge the tones of the image original, and later I used a Black & White filter.
