The Story Behind Three Thirty Airstrip in Ronda, Cebu, Philippines - Part 3

After our business project hit a major set back a bit more than 2 and half years ago, my wife (@discoveringarni) and I made the decision to build our own airstrip with a hangar.
If you followed the previous parts (Part 1 & part 2) you already know of the first steps we went through to make it happen.

A few days ago, I ended part 2, which consisted of the progress during the first 2 months of construction, with :

• The walls of the hangar being almost all the way up
• The inside of the hangar ready for the floor slab to be poured
• The runway taking shape
• The concreting of the municipal road about to start

Let's resume the work

June 12th, 2018

The floor slab is poured.

June 23th, 2018

The walls and the facade's gable were up and the workers were welding the trusses to support the roof. The plastering of the inside walls with cement was also started and the runway was becoming flatter.

June 27th, 2018

The rear gable was almost complete and some of the trusses were put in place while the hole for the rain water collection tank was excavated and the workers were already putting up the side walls. There is no access to water from the municipality at the airstrip so we didn't have the choice but to have some rain water collection. It was ok for us because we were going to do it anyways.
You can see the hole on the 3rd picture. We tried to keep the tank close to where the toilets were going to be located to reduce the length of piping required.
The runway got another compacted layer of limestone while the work on the municipal road was started.

July 1st, 2018

More trusses were up and the plastering on the hangar's inside wall was complete. You can also see that one row of tiles was laid on the floor already.
The workers were working on the plastering of the water tank and the outside walls of the hangar.

July 5th, 2018

The inside of the water tank was fully plastered and waterproofed.
The outer walls of the hangar needed a little bit more plastering to be be done and all the trusses were put in place.

July 10th, 2018

The outside plastering was complete and the painting of the whole hangar was started.

July 12th, 2018

There was a lot of progress in the span of 2 days:

• The walls (inside and outside were almost completely painted
• The windows were put in place
• The shutter was being installed
• The work on the gutters was started

July 14th, 2018

The roof was on which was great timing because there was quite a bit of rain around that time. The workers were staying dry while laying down the tiles. This rain however got the runway very muddy and the vehicles passing on it started creating potholes.
