Hello, I'm here again! As I've mentioned on my Art #38: El Dorado | Axie Infinity and my first post on the Axie Buzz community, I have made two options for a certain Axie art contest on Twitter. What I've shared previously was my second option and also the artwork I submitted for the contest. This time, I am sharing my first option and my supposedly my original entry for that contest.

The only rule given was to draw an Axie/s from the contest host's collection.

And this is what I came up with...

"Teamwork"

An Aqua, Beast, and Plant type Axie teaming up for battle. Not sure if this is a strong combination but my concept here is to draw a team on attack mode. I chose to draw Axie #66695 (Aquatic), First Merry Lamb (Beast), and Sprout (Plant). These three Axies all look awesome for me that's why I chose them.

So let me tell the background of why I chose to draw them this way. Axie #66695 is Aquatic type so I drew him attacking using his tail (ability is called Cool Breeze) creating a whirlpool. Then behind him is Sprout, Plant type, emitting a green gas (ability is called Chemical Warfare). And above them is First Merry Lamb, Beast type, covered in blood since I saw his snout is inspired from mosquito and one of his abilities is Blood Taste. First Merry Lamb also has the Luna Absorb card so I added a moon behind them.

I guess their combination was fun to draw because it covers the water, land and air. Plus, this piece looks more colorful and lively compared to my submitted entry. Maybe I should've went with this artwork. Hmm..

Drawing Process

My initial goal with this piece was to draw it in semi-realistic art style but after laying the solid colors, I realized that it would be difficult and taxing to go for that style, especially with the water. In the end, I went with the simple way of shading.

While I was halfway done, I felt quite disappointed with myself because I can't do the art style I want so I abandoned it for a while and went with my second option. Lol. I didn't have much problem drawing the bubbles, by the way, because I have already drawn some on an artwork I did last year.

However, the funny thing is, I ended up liking this artwork a lot after finishing it. Oh, I also added a blood splatter on some corners with a blood splatter brush and topped it with an oil paint texture.
