Enola Holmes: Un Piacevole Film

Enola Holmes, sorella minore del famoso investigatore Sherlock e del fratello Mycroft, cresce felicemente con la madre Eudoria fino ad un giorno della sua adolescenza, in cui al suo risveglio è fuggita di casa senza avvisare la figlia.

Cresciuta sviluppando tutte le abilità tipiche della famiglia Holmes, Enola, dopo aver avvisato i fratelli e non volendo sottostare al suo tutore, il fratello Mycroft, decide di partire alla ricerca della madre, dopo aver scoperto che la stessa le ha lasciato indizi sulla sua dipartita.

Durante il viaggio, Enola incontra Tewkesbury, un giovane visconte, il quale le chiedo aiuto per sfuggire sul treno al suo assalitore. A questo punto la storia sembra prendere una strada diversa, concentrandosi molto sul giovane aristocratico, designato ad occupare un posto nella Camera dei Lord, dopo la sospetta morte del padre.

Infatti presso la Camera dei Lord è in discussione la riforma del suffragio universale ed il voto dei Tewkesbury è decisivo per l'approvazione, essendo quest'ultimo favorevole ma si deve scontrare con una società molto conservatrice e per questo motivo è ritenuto un soggetto pericoloso, da eliminare.

La storia s'intreccia con la scomparsa della madre Eudoria, anch'essa facente parte di un movimento femminile a favore delle donne e del suffragio universale, per la quale era diventata un obiettivo da elimin, motivo alla base della sua scomparsa.

Il cambiamento personale è il cambiamento di una società. Vivere la propria vita per cercare se stessi e non per cercare qualcuno, con la forza e la volontà di agitare le acque, di fare rumore, di attirare l'attenzione per cambiare il mondo, un passo alla volta, quando non calza a pennello. Perchè la vita è una e il futuro dipende da noi.

Dai romanzi di Nancy Springer, sulla fantasiosa sorella più piccola di Sherlock Holmes, spigliata, vivace e intrigante, quanto il suo illustre fratello, Enola Holmes è un bel film di formazione per ragazzi ai bivi dei loro itinerari di crescita e di scelte e di riflessione per adulti, che forse hanno abbandonato il sentiero della propria ricerca identitaria troppo presto. Il più delle volte la strada più complessa è la più giusta, serve solo un pizzico in più di tenacia e la forza di non arrendersi, poco prima del rush finale.
