“La fatalità ci rende invisibili” e davanti a questa invisibilità il destino diventa ineluttabile.
È questa la storia di Santiago Nazar e la cronaca della sua morte annunciata. Millantata così alla luce del sole dai suoi aguzzini da risultare impossibile per chi sapeva. Tutti. ‘Per quel mistero che sono le casualità incatenate che rendono possibile l’assurdo’.

La realtà della vicenda di Santiago Nazar per il numero sconsiderato di coincidenze, supera decisamente la fantasia della letteratura e resta perciò incredibile.

‘Cronaca di una morte annunciata’ è per questo non solo quello che denuncia il titolo ma anche una ricostruzione pedissequa e indispensabile del fitto intreccio tra tutti i personaggi e di come la morte di Santiago Nazar interferisca con le vite di ciascuno degli abitanti del paese e con gli eventi ordinari ed eccezionali della cittadina. Santiago Nazar accusato di aver tolto l'onore a Ángela Vicario viene assassinato dai fratelli della ragazza.

Un delitto d’onore necessario per lavare l’onta di una colpa. La narrazione e la ricostruzione attenta e precisa dei fatti delittuosi portano alla luce i valori fondanti della comunità sudamericana in cui è ambientata la vicenda e con essi le responsabilità civili di tutti i componenti che ne fanno parte. Si giunge alla conclusione che tutti, indistintamente, per un motivo o per un altro, sono colpevoli di quell’omicidio in quanto, giustificati o meno, nessuno ha tentato di ostacolarlo.
‘Cronaca di una morte annunciata’ non vuole svelare alcun arcano, tutto è abbastanza evidente, nessuna matassa da sciogliere.

Eppure tutto il racconto mira ad accettare un unico, solo e grande mistero: le strade di un destino che ha quale unico fine quello di compiersi sono infinite e fantasiose, l’umanità irresponsabile, poi, ci mette anche del suo.

A crime of honor necessary to wash away the shame of a crime. The narration and the careful and precise reconstruction of the criminal events bring to light the founding values ​​of the South American community in which the story is set and with them the civil responsibilities of all the components that are part of it. We come to the conclusion that everyone, without distinction, for one reason or another, is guilty of that murder because, whether justified or not, no one has tried to hinder it.
'Chronicle of a death foretold' does not want to reveal any mystery, everything is quite evident, no skein to untie.

Yet the whole story aims to accept a single, single and great mystery: the paths of a destiny that has the sole purpose of fulfilling itself are infinite and imaginative, irresponsible humanity, then, also puts its own.
