Recensione Libro: La paranza dei bambini

Non ho letto Saviano sin dai suoi esordi e non mi lascio affascinare dagli scrittori ‘in voga’, per così dire. Ho sempre seguito e apprezzato Saviano nei suoi interventi televisivi o in rete su YouTube, rimandando sempre la lettura dei suoi libri per un motivo o per un altro. Quando mi sono decisa a leggerne qualcuno non ho iniziato dal suo primo libro (per la cronaca, non seguo neppure la serie tv tratta da Gomorra) ma dall’ultimo: ‘La paranza dei bambini’. Già il titolo e l’incipit sono un capolavoro che da soli basterebbero a spiegare tutto il testo, la copertina poi è un quid. Scura ma luminosa, argentea, brillante. Uno specchio buio, per riflettere la realtà scura fuori dal libro.

Appena concluso, a caldo la prima cosa che ho pensato è stata: questo non è un romanzo ma, come direbbe Carlos Ruiz Zafón “è una storia raccontata da uno scrittore che è il suo modo per capire il mondo” e per farlo capire a noi lettori, aggiungo io. C’è troppa verità nelle parole dello scrittore e troppa amarezza per una terra, la sua, quella di Napoli, che è una ferita sempre aperta e che fatica a rimarginarsi, perché non vuole e perché non può.

‘La paranza dei bambini’ è una tragedia contemporanea e Saviano è uno Shakespeare 2.0. il gioco dei troni, le strategie del potere provocano una vendetta di sangue. Una guerra quotidiana tra bande criminali di teenagers combattuta parallelamente tanto nella realtà fisica dei vicoli, delle strade e delle piazze di Napoli, quanto in quella virtuale di bacheche Fb, gruppi WhatsApp e video su YouTube che suggeriscono ‘tutorial’ per il crimine perfetto. Per allenarsi poi basta frequentare le palestre digitali di Call od Duty, Assassin’s Creed o Lord of War e se ci fosse bisogno ancora di qualche suggerimento i war movie e le serie ‘evento’ farebbero la loro parte.
Nessun atto di accusa di emulazione, solo la semplice quanto violenta realtà di una criminalità capace di mettere sin da subito le sue radici velenose nelle menti sveglie di ragazzini più che mai decisi a farsi valere.

Perché la loro è un’età in cui ci si stente invincibili e lo si può davvero diventare se si pone ‘il cielo come unico limite’ alla sete di ‘soddisfazione di ogni desiderio al di là di qualsiasi bisogno’. Ne deriva un sete id potere appagata solo dal controllo e dal denaro e cosa, meglio di una organizzazione tanto perfetta quanto criminale come la camorra può suggerire un sistema in franchising basato su regole che non ammettono strappi o eccezione e pertanto di facile comprensione, di semplice attuazione e gestione per mano di bambini pronti a tutti pur di diventare ‘galantuomini’ il prima possibile? Eccole allora queste giovani esce vive per le quali la morte, come l’acqua, è una promessa sufficiente in un mondo dove basta la parola per decidere chi vive o chi muore.

Basta una parola per spostare il mondo nel bene e nel male, quando si vuole e quando si può. Saviano lo sa e con le parole dei suoi romanzi cerca di far aprire gli occhi chiusi delle coscienze anestetizzate sul marcio e sulla corruzione del pensiero, ancora prima che dell’azione, che restano alla fine del libro e che esistono ancor prima di esso, nella realtà fuori testo.

Saviano non scrive per raccontare ma per mostrare e svelare. ‘La paranza dei bambini’ è un testo da leggere, da rileggere e da far sedimentare, ma non troppo. Perché è dietro la calma apparente che si gonfiano le tempeste più devastanti ed è solo smuovendo certe acque e certi fondali che si riesce a portare in superficie i rifiuti, le scorie e la vita in decomposizione.

La scrittura di Saviano dimostra che la paura e la parola sono armi di attacco e di difesa, pertanto possono uccidere se ci si lascia dominare ma possono salvare chi le interroga alla ricerca del cambiamento. Se si può e se si vuole.

Because theirs is an age in which one feels invincible and can truly become one if one places 'the sky as the only limit' to the thirst for 'satisfaction of every desire beyond any need'. The result is a thirst for power satisfied only by control and money and what, better than an organization as perfect as it is criminal like the Camorra, can suggest a franchising system based on rules that do not admit snags or exceptions and therefore easy to understand, simple implementation and management by the hands of children ready for everyone to become 'gentlemen' as soon as possible? So here they are, these young women come out alive for whom death, like water, is a sufficient promise in a world where words are enough to decide who lives or who dies.

One word is enough to move the world for better or for worse, when you want and when you can. Saviano knows this and with the words of his novels he tries to open the closed eyes of anesthetized consciences on the rottenness and corruption of thought, even before the action, which remain at the end of the book and which exist even before it, in the reality out of text.

Saviano does not write to tell but to show and reveal. 'The paranza of children' is a text to be read, reread and to settle, but not too much. Because it is behind the apparent calm that the most devastating storms swell and it is only by stirring certain waters and certain depths that waste, waste and decaying life can be brought to the surface.
