Yet each man kills the thing he loves
By each let this be heard,
Some do it with a bitter look,
Some with a flattering word,
The coward does it with a kiss,
The brave man with a sword!

Some kill their love when they are young,
And some when they are old;
Some strangle with the hands of Lust,
Some with the hands of Gold:
The kindest use a knife, because
The dead so soon grow cold.

Some love too little, some too long,
Some sell, and others buy;
Some do the deed with many tears,
And some without a sigh:
For each man kills the thing he loves,
Yet each man does not die.

From: The Ballad Of Reading Gaol by Oscar Wilde

Forse ascensore in qualche strana lingua, spagnolo forse. E Renée non l’ho mai vista coi capelli così corti, non me l’ero mai ricordata coi capelli così corti.
E mai me l’ero ricordata così bella.

What I remember of Renée is sex, the desire to jump on her, to kiss her, to touch her, everywhere, always.
It was easy, it was beautiful, it was incredible.
With her I tried things that I had never tried before.
Our need to meet became more and more pressing, it happens in the elevator, in the bathroom, in the closet and everywhere in the evening or at night when He was not there. Today I remembered that time in the elevator, she with her hand behind her her back kept a finger on the key that blocked it, I was on her, I almost crushed her, I bit her neck and whispered nonsense words in a low voice, in her ear. I felt her going crazy, moving slowly, stroking to feel how much I wanted her.
Then my memory made a strange joke and it was still us but she had short hair and was dressed only in animal skins, we were in a space as big as the elevator and she kept the door closed but the walls were logs side by side and the roof was thatched and all around you could smell the scents of the forest and, far away, the sound of galloping horses. She seemed to glow in the shadows, her white skin, her freckles. Leaning on the ground there was a bow and arrows inside a leather cylinder. I thought comboros, I thought they should never find us in that comboros. But I don't know what a comboros is. Maybe elevator in some strange language, Spanish maybe. And Renée I've never seen her with such short hair, I had never remembered her with such short hair.
And never had I remembered her so beautiful.
Maurice says they are my transfigurations of my Renée into something symbolic, even if he has yet to interpret all these things, he will also do research on the words I pronounce but whose meaning I don't know.
In any case Maurice can say what he wants, but I'm not crazy.

Sometimes she made me go to their penthouse and made me stay all night. I knew he was far away, but I always slept with one eye open and at the slightest noise I woke up and ended up woke her up too and we started making love again almost in sleep.
One of those times was the memory of the last hypnosis.
I went back to the moment when I heard a noise, I woke up panting, with my heart in my throat, all of a sudden, with my eyes wide open to scan the darkness of the room, my ears strained to listen to the slightest noise. I just looked around, she was sleeping next to me, the face of a spiteful child, a smile just hinted at her lips.
It was not pitch dark and in the room I saw a thousand shadows and from outside the house I could hear a thousand noises. Then the sound of footsteps approaching, very close, my heart that seemed to suffocate me, cluttering my throat, my breath held, my fear.
After an interminable silence of the knocks on the door and the sound of a creaking hinge. Renée who wakes up, but has long hair and we are on a canopied iron bed in a wooden house, and it is pitch dark. In the dark, I don't know how, we look into each other's eyes, I get up and take a dagger, placed on a wooden table near the bed.
I feel the hinges about to give way and someone outside panting like a bellows.
When I should feel a crash, on the other hand, I feel Renée's hand in my hand and they are running, half naked, at breakneck speed, in the night, in the middle of the woods, I feel the dry twigs breaking under my feet, naked, I look at her: she short hair, and her face is a pale moon in the night. Around us animal noises, perhaps an owl, far away I seem to hear dogs barking, I feel they are following us.
We run towards the river, to lose our tracks, I'm sure where I'm going, even if it is pitch dark I feel that the direction is the right one and that we will soon be fording, I know this forest perfectly.
These confused memories confuse me, even Maurice tells me he doesn't understand much.
Yesterday he discovered that one of the words I said, "barros", which I thought was Spanish, is instead a word of Celtic origin, bush means, how did it get into my brain? Where is he from? The doctor says it doesn't mean anything, I may have heard it everywhere and who knows when; why it hit me I don't know. Now that my memory is returning little by little, one piece at a time, it just popped up by accident.

... to be continued.
