Yet each man kills the thing he loves
By each let this be heard,
Some do it with a bitter look,
Some with a flattering word,
The coward does it with a kiss,
The brave man with a sword!

Some kill their love when they are young,
And some when they are old;
Some strangle with the hands of Lust,
Some with the hands of Gold:
The kindest use a knife, because
The dead so soon grow cold.

Some love too little, some too long,
Some sell, and others buy;
Some do the deed with many tears,
And some without a sigh:
For each man kills the thing he loves,
Yet each man does not die.

I remembered the vacation story. Today I remembered Nadine, a witch who works in the personnel office, we were at the coffee break and she, talking to another of her office, a new one, began to explain the history of holidays and permits. "You see it's easy, if you want to know if there are stories of betrayals, illegal couples, just check the overlapping of holidays and leave, a day, half a day, an hour. When you see that two often have the same days .. . well ... then it means they have a story! " That witch was talking about the two of us, Renee and I, how many times had we taken half a day together? Often, once we had even made a weekend together on the French Riviera, adding Friday and Monday morning. I hadn't thought of it before. But Nadine was a witch and working on the staff she had everyone's vacation in front of her. Renèe and I laughed about it, then we tried to play that little game and ... fuck the witch was right! There were at least three other cases in addition to ours, already "suspicious" couples and short holidays often matched, indeed almost always. So we all suspected too, indeed we say they were almost certain.
From the coffee machine, here I am again in a timeless memory, we are together, she and I, with long hair caged in a very long braid in front of a wooden banquet, the farmer sells miserable vegetables from his field. He smiles at Renée, looks at me and jokes about the help a young man can give to the Duke's wife who is looking for aphrodisiac herbs and vegetables. He looks at me, smiles with a toothless mouth, I understand that he knows, that everyone knows. We quickly leave the market, turn the corner and are again somewhere else, she has short hair and we are dressed in boar skins.
We are going towards a clearing, in the middle of round wooden houses with thatched roofs, in the middle of the clearing there is a large bonfire and the whole village seems to have gathered around the fire. There are so many people and we stop near a hut, in front of us two old women talk in a low voice, they didn't notice us arriving. They talk about the two of us, how can the Rix defend the village from the robberies and raids of the Roman soldiers if he can't even defend his wife from the young druid? We turn around, look at each other and go back towards the woods. The whole village has noticed us, the Rix will never forgive Renée.
Maurice says that my memories are mediated by my culture and that I make temporal transpositions of my history. I don't know, my memories are vivid, even those in times that I cannot know and then I have never been fond of history. Maurice says that there is a lot of information in our heads that we don't even know we have and that only comes up during hypnosis.
Then he asked me a strange question, he asked me if before sleeping I feel like a jolt in my whole body. I know it is one of his attempts to prove that I am crazy, but I told the truth, in fact it often happens to me, at night, before going to sleep, to feel like a shiver in my whole body. I don't think this means I'm crazy.

Everything about her was intriguing, her indulgence without reserve, the fact that she was beautiful, that she was the boss's wife, that with her I risked everything and with me she risked everything.
That evening we were at my house, I had prepared a dinner, we had drunk some champagne, then we made love quickly but I, afterwards, remained inside her. We sat with our legs wrapped around each other's pelvis, embraced, our bodies, our skin was in total contact. Slowly my desire returned and we remained like that, as one thing for an indefinite time, moving as if in slow motion.
I remember that at a certain point I felt as if my soul came out of my body, I saw the two of us enveloped there, indistinguishable, and I was René, and I was also Renée, we were one soul, we were looking at one body. Those bodies were in my room, but they were also in a hut by the river and they were also in the middle of a meadow. How many times had I experienced that feeling? My mind, my memories were more and more confused: I was René and I was also Renée.
Maurice says we are at a crucial point, even if he has not yet understood what these memories mean, which he believes to be distorted by my illness. Instead, I believe that these memories are true, I know that this has happened, they are not the sign of madness, they are the memories of a great passion, of a unique love, which repeats itself, which perhaps I repeat in my head as in a game of mirrors.

... to be continued.
