¡Hola a todos! Este fin de semana en Holguín, Cuba, se está llevando a cabo la Feria Internacional del Libro y, ¡vaya sorpresa! Al recorrer el centro de la ciudad, decidí darle un vistazo y explorar lo que ofrecía. Sin embargo, me quedé boquiabierta al descubrir que la mayoría de los puestos apenas tenían libros. ¡Sí, así como lo leen! Una feria con escasez de libros. La gente iba de puesto en puesto buscando juguetes, lápices de colores, material escolar y otras cosas que no estaban precisamente relacionadas con los libros, siendo los juguetes los protagonistas.

Lo más preocupante fueron los precios de los juguetes, que, como todo en esta época de inflación, alcanzaban cifras astronómicas. Incluso el juguete más sencillo costaba casi mil pesos, mientras que el salario mínimo apenas llega a los 2500. Muchos padres se acercaban a los puestos y expresaban su frustración, mencionando que tenían que ir sin sus hijos para evitar la presión de verlos llorar por un juguete inalcanzable.

Decidí acercarme a uno de los pocos puestos que sí tenían libros y me hice con dos mapas de zonas turísticas para visitar en mi país, uno de la región central y otro de la oriental. También compré un libro que me llamó la atención, titulado "Cuarenta vasos de vodka", del multipremiado autor cubano Rogelio Riverón. Además, adquirí un pin con una frase que me encantó: "I love crypto", que me recordó mucho a nuestra comunidad. Espero que en la próxima feria haya más variedad literaria y menos inflación en los precios.

Hello everyone! This weekend in Holguín, Cuba, the International Book Fair is taking place and, what a surprise! As I wandered around downtown, I decided to check it out and explore what it had to offer. However, I was dumbfounded to discover that most of the stalls had hardly any books. Yes, just as you read! A fair with a shortage of books. People went from stall to stall looking for toys, crayons, school supplies and other things that were not exactly related to books, with toys being the protagonists.

The most worrying thing was the prices of toys, which, like everything else in this time of inflation, reached astronomical figures. Even the simplest toy cost almost a thousand pesos, while the minimum wage barely reaches 2500. Many parents approached the stalls and expressed their frustration, mentioning that they had to go without their children to avoid the pressure of seeing them cry for an unattainable toy.

I decided to approach one of the few stalls that did have books and picked up two maps of tourist areas to visit in my country, one of the central region and one of the eastern region. I also bought a book that caught my attention, entitled "Cuarenta vasos de vodka", by the multi-awarded Cuban author Rogelio Riverón. I also bought a pin with a phrase that I loved: "I love crypto", which reminded me a lot of our community. I hope that in the next fair there will be more literary variety and less price inflation.
