Trip to our friends

Remember some weeks ago when we went to Granada to visit our friends? Gosh, I wish we could do that over and have another road trip (or two). Not only did we manage to shop around a bit in these few days, but also had a great time when we where at our friend’s house for lunch. It was so nice that I aimed for a car rental during the last weeks of December, just a few days to get us out of the area a bit and maybe do some shopping again. I was about to book that last week until I discovered that all rental agencies that charge a low deposit were rented out completely. Should have thought about that before, lol. So we’re skipping that and waiting until January to rent one for a few days so that we can look at cars and hopefully actually buy one in these few days.

Back to the trip

We enjoyed the views and being out of the area a lot. But what was cool as well was to see the garden of our friends. They created a chicken run with a bunch of chickens, fun thing was you could see the chicken run from the living room window as if you’re inside lol. They’re also growing a bunch of their own veggies as well as fruits and I’m a bit jealous because before we moved here, my aim was to at least have a balcony to start growing our own things as well. But it will have to wait a bit longer, it’s not possible here. Thankfully for us, they just had a nice batch of mandarins and they are delicious let me tell you! It also reminded us that we should start buying them again because it’s the time of the year to do so.

We were gifted some mandarins

To take home with us and I’m happy they gave them. Afterwards, I decided to order some nets of mandarins so that we could eat them more often. I admit, the ones they gave us were way better, but what to do? We decided to motivate our daughter again to try new fruit. She’s horrible with new things, the wrong colours or textures, it’s a nightmare to get her to eat healthy stuff and even more to try new things. She loves to stick to what she knows although we explain her she can’t eat the same things forever. With some determination we managed to make a deal to eat at least one piece of a mandarin each day for a few days and then doubled it. If not, no candy for you missy! Also, we offer it in between for her to earn something nice, which she usually refuses, unfortunately.

Baby steps

At least we got her to taste it and she is eating a tiny bit of them each day, it’s an improvement compared to a year ago, so let’s focus on that! I wish she’d try the delicious kiwis we have as well, they are so good! But whatever, I’ll eat them myself as I read they’re good for your blood pressure if you eat a few a day. Can’t hurt, right?

Do you like mandarins? Have you ever grown them yourself?

Ah too bad you never saw it grow, but I think it can take a long time as well?
I really hope to be able to grow some stuff next year, but for now, it is what it is :)

Thanks for stopping by!
