Orientation day was specially set aside for the new J. S. S. One students admitted into beacon comprehensive high school (B. C. H. S).

It was a yearly event during which the j. S. S. One students were trained and prepared for a new beginning in the secondary school system.

The students, during the orientation exercise, would learn about yhe school and understand it, know their teachers and also learn the school anthem.

The jss1 students numbering 300 were now seated comfortably inside the big well- decorated and well ventilated school hall.

they all look neat and pleasant in their new school uniforms.

They felt elated finding themselves in the uniform of one of the highly rated secondary schools in the town.

Are there a table where the principal and the vice principals (Academic and Administration), the local inspector of education (L.I.E), the chairman of the parents and teachers association (P.T.A), the school counselor and the head of school for jss1.

After a short opening prayer and the former introduction of the people at the high table, Mr. Macaulay, an English language teacher begin his speech eloquently:

"The honourable local inspector of education, the chairman, PTA, the vice principals, fellow teachers, order respectable members at the high table and my dear students, permit me to call on the school principal, in person of Mrs A.T. Ibironke, to give a welcome address. A round of applause students"

He added as ge step aside for the principal to make use of the standing microphone.

Mrs. Ibironke, in her 50s, looked fresh and huge. She worked gracefully to the microphone where she started with an introductory remark.

"The L.I.E., the chairman, PTA, the vice principals, the school counselor, the school Head, jss1 and my lovely children;" Mrs Ibironke began introductorily.

" I am very delighted that today, Beacon comprehensive high school is admitting new jss1 students despite the threats to close it down for a reason that is political. Thank God the school has come to stay. I would like to use this opportunity to thank the government of the day for following the part of construction instead of destruction.

Mrs Ibironke post to put on her glasses before reading directly from our prepared speech: "let me hastily congratulate you for gaining admission into a secondary school when the government is showing serious concern towards improving the quality of education in the state. Let me also commend you for making B.C.H.S your school of first choice and for performing brilliantly in the common entrance examination to beat the school cut off point of 60%. this is the standard that we have been keeping for the kids and a good reason why the school continues to wear called hundred percent performance in the final examination of WAEC and NECO.

To be continued.....
