Homemade Coconut Bowl [Zero Waste Project]

It is not easy living with zero waste, especially when we live in industrial locations that use many products that are not environmentally friendly.

When I returned to the village and no longer worked in the city, I slowly improved my life. I try to be more efficient to use environmentally friendly products.

I learned to apply zero waste patterns.

Coconut is a source of food and a source of additional finance in the area where I live. I used to make coconut milk from coconut, but I still often throw out the coconut shell.

But then I thought of making a bowl out of a coconut shell, when I started to live my life as a vegan even though it wasn't entirely successful because I still consume eggs today.

I have a collection of coconut bowls at home. The shape is not perfect because I don't use professional equipment.

I only use sand paper and a knife to clean the rough surface of the shell. Then my shell surface was smooth enough and then I applied cooking oil to get a nice texture.

This is a larger coconut version. This isn't finished for the finishing stage.

Still visible remains of coconut meat that has been taken by shredding using traditional grater.

I like this shape even though I admit it's a bit less than perfect because I open the coconut only by using a machete instead of a professional opening tool so the edges of the shell look sloppy.

This is my old coconut bowl collection and is still my favorite. Look at the natural texture that is so beautiful.

I want to make more coconut bowls to explore other natural textures which will naturally be different in every shell.

I am very happy to be able to live as simply as possible by utilizing things around us and trying not to throw away anything that can still be recycled or transformed into other functions.

They are GORGEOUS looking, my God!

They sure would be something people would buy for HUNDREDS of Dollars. Even though you say they are not perfect, they are to me 💛 the sloppy edges are lovely and the rustic effect of it is precious. I would love to make them myself! Will definitely try when I put my hands on some coconuts. You should upload a tutorial!

Go zero waste!!!

GREAT job, Lestari!! 😍 We have lots of these in our kitchen in Thailand. 😍 With holes burned in them they make super soap dishes too.

RTd and following you on twitter with both accounts. 😊

The fun thing is exploring the different colors of patterns from coconut shells. I love so much to do that.

Thank you so much for your support. Following both of you guys
