Maybe I Made a Mistake on Planting Lettuce
Some of the oddities I couldn't predict came up when I was growing lettuce. Maybe this is my fault for not fully doing research first on lettuce plants in Indonesia.
At first, lettuce seeds were difficult to grow. Days passed by that time, and no lettuce seeds grew. Then I throw the lettuce seeds to another area out of the nursery area. Miraculously, then the lettuce seeds sprouted. I left them alone for a few weeks.
When the lettuce seeds started to sprout some leaves, I thought about transferring them to a wider growing medium.
My next foolishness was that I planted them in very hot areas without cover. I think of lettuce like any other green vegetable that is resistant to heat. Then one day my neighbor said that maybe my lettuce would die because it has heat insistence.
Then, I did some quick research on the internet. In general, lettuce cannot stand the hot area. But there are several types of lettuce that are hot resistant.
I started to feel guilty as I looked at my lettuce plants. Maybe I made a mistake.
I don't know if they will survive the insane heat in the area I live in.
So far, my lettuce plants are still holding out! Indeed, this is my first time growing lettuce.
Do you have any previous experience growing lettuce? Maybe you can give me suggestions about my mistakes in growing this lettuce.

The heat may cause it to "bolt" meaning it will go into bloom and produce flowers instead of leaves.
Yeah and that's sad.
I have a plan to grow them with hydroponics style
Give them some shade! Like a big umbrella during noontime!
Huh, I have no a big umbrella, so sad :(
Get some cloth or plastic sheet to make a temporary roof over the patch.
I've tried to grow some romaine lettuce indoors a couple of months ago, hoping to avoid the summer heat. And yeah, it failed. Haha. Now that it's getting cooler here, I'm planning to try again.
Hope yours thrive.
Cheers!
Plant makes us not getting give up :) we have to try it again and again. And yeah, I always curious until I did it :)
Cheers!
hidroponik saja anggrek, lebih aman
Iya rencana mau hidroponik nih. Tapi masih lihat lihat video youtube nih belajar dulu ehehe
I grew that lettuce here in the Canadian summer which can get hot. yours looks the same as mine did. Mine grew quite well actually so I think you will have good lettuce.
Keep us posted on it's progress.
I learn a lot from garden. Even I made mistake, maybe there is still a hope for my plant to grow up :)
In fact, I don't think of mistakes as mistakes, but I take as experience.
I agree with you, my friend. I've learned so much from garden :)
That's the point sister, move forward with your experience.
My best wishes always with you.
Thank you :)
