Why Luxuries are Essential For The Economy?

Recently one of the neighbours bought a car, it was a bit on the expensive side. There's been talk over that in between my friends, some have the opinion that it's just a luxury to show off. They talked like it was some kind of foolishness buy these luxuries when you buy a basic car and use the balance for something good like charity.

At first, I felt that was right, it will be good if that money was spent on something useful for society other than using to buy a status symbol. But eventually, I found out that there is another side to the story.

The first fact s that it's just the money they have earned and they have every right to spent it as they like.

The second is a little bit elaborate and the side we have never thought about. It's that these luxuries have an important role in a healthy economy. It's the story those monks usually ignores.

If one buys a Luxury Car, what happens is not just all the money is going to the hands of the corporates. We usually see this transaction like this. But in behind the scenes, there's not just a few in the suits. There's labourers, supervisors, commission agents, truck drivers, managers and all these kind of people.

So it includes all levels of economy, the money the buyer gives will reach even the bottom levels of the economy. It's providing employment for both professionals and skilled labourers. So that fights against unemployment.

Buying these luxuries are far better than just the money staying unproductively in one's bank account. There will be monks who say to avoid all these materialistic aspects. But they couldn't even do something for the people.

From the side of the buyer also there are certain things. When one goes for a luxury item, he needed to be completely aware of his earnings. If that's something which will affect his finances badly, it's needed to avoid. Just competing with one another with luxuries is also a foolish thin centre

"In the end, it's still who you are not what you own"

I think people are free to spend their money as they please as long as they are aware that money does not buy freedom or happiness. In a good economy money circulates. And yes, it all comes back to the community.
