Hello hiveians

Today, I want to show you the process of cutting a gathered gown I started yesterday.

A beautiful African fabric of 36" was brought to me to make a dress for a girl of about 10yrs which will not be enough for her, so I decided to buy a satin material to make a gathered pleat for her for the full length and the African print fabric for the half length.

Let's get started.

The gathered pleat.

Her waist measurements was multiply by 4 and a long stitch was run through it

It was gathered to the size of her waist circumstance and a tight stitch was run on it for it not to loosen

The upper bodice

Her upper bodice measurements were used to cut out the half length on the fabric and lining.

Adding interfacing to make it firm.

The finished dress will be posted later as I am still working on it.

Thanks for your time, have a beautiful day.
