Hoy 16 de Junio, hacen 16 años de la nefasta partida de mi padre. Manos criminales cometieron el hecho de dejar sin vida al ser más especial de mi vida, Andrés López Marín, poeta, compositor maestro, galeronista, técnico agrónomo, conocido en sus cantos de galerón como el Látigo de Cajigal.

Today June 16, we conmemorate the 16th biorthday of my father's disastrous departure. Criminal hands committed the act of killing the most special person in my life, Andrés López Marín, poet, teacher, composer, galeron singer, agronomist, known among his fellow folk singers as the Cajigal Whip.

Su labor profesional que ejerció en la sociedad fue la de técnico cacaotero, logrando con su esfuerzo ser el administrador de una empresa muy reconocida en el país AGROPECUARIA APROCAO. Dictó diversos cursos y talleres de Agricultura en el Liceo Diego Carbonell. Además, su actividad social se extendió óptima en sus áreas productivas y fue Coordinador de uniones, Técnico Director regional del Fondo Nacional del Cacao, Delegado Agrario del Instituto Agrario Nacional, Jefe de Oficina Agropecuaria Aprocao de Yaguaraparo, Concejal y Presidente del Concejo Municipal del Municipio Cajigal.

 His professional work in his community was that of a cocoa technician, achieving with his effort to be the administrator of a well-known company in the country: AGROPECUARIA APROCAO. He taught various courses and workshops on Agriculture at the Diego Carbonell High School. In addition, his social activity extended successfully in other areas and he was Coordinator of Unions, Technical Regional Director of the National Cacao Fund, Agrarian Delegate of the National Agrarian Institute, Head of the Aprocao de Yaguaraparo Agricultural Office, Councilor and President of the Municipal Council of the Cajigal Municipality. 

Tuvo el mérito de representar a la Sociedad Cajigalense a través de festivales del Galerón en varios Estados de Venezuela: Vargas, Zulia, Guárico, Delta Amacuro, Bolívar, Monagas, Anzoátegui, Nueva Esparta y Sucre.

He had the merit of representing the Cajigalense Society through Galerón festivals in several States of Venezuela: Vargas, Zulia, Guárico, Delta Amacuro, Bolívar, Monagas, Anzoátegui, Nueva Esparta and Sucre.

A través de su ingeniosa, brillante y artística carrera, obtuvo varios reconocimientos en honor a la gran labor que ejecutó triunfalmente entre la sociedad mediante sus diversas participaciones y manifestaciones socio culturales: el Carinicuao de oro en Cariaco; el primer lugar en la feria de San Juan Bautista; primer lugar en la Feria de San Miguel, Río Caribe; reconocimiento de Galerón en Ciudad Ojeda Zulia; Primer y segundo lugar en el Festival San Juan de Los Morros en el Estado Guárico; Estatuilla en Cantaura del Estado Anzoátegui. Además de sus premios obtenidos, igualmente fue agasajado, y honorado por su apreciada figura profesional y artística – popular como: Padrino del Decimo Segundo (XII) Festival de la Voz Escolar de Cajigal de Paria; Presidente del Jurado festival de Sidor 1991; integrante del jurado de los festivales de aguinaldo en las poblaciones de el pilar, Tunapuy, Rio Caribe y Yaguaraparo; Jurado en las competencias finales en Güiria y Yaguaraparo y fue homenajeado por su intensa actividad folclórica en Canchuchú de la ciudad de Carúpano.

Through his ingenious, brilliant and artistic career, he obtained several recognitions in honor of the great work that he executed triumphantly  through his various participations and socio-cultural manifestations: the Golden Carinicuao in Cariaco; the first place in the San Juan Bautista fair; first place at the San Miguel Fair, Río Caribe; recognition of Galerón in Ciudad Ojeda Zulia; First and second place at the San Juan de Los Morros Festival in Guárico State; Statuette in Cantaura del Estado Anzoátegui. In addition to his awards, he was also honored for his appreciated professional and artistic figure - as: Godfather of the Decimo Segundo (XII) Festival of the School Voice of Cajigal de Paria; President of the 1991 Sidor Festival Jury; member of the jury of the Christmas bonus festivals in the towns of El Pilar, Tunapuy, Rio Caribe and Yaguaraparo; Jury member in the final competitions in Güiria and Yaguaraparo and was honored for his intense folkloric activity in Canchuchú in the city of Carúpano.

Ejerció eficazmente la docencia, la comunicación social y las letras. Era un compositor y cantautor consumado, su pericia para componer, cantar, interpretar y gesticular poesía de la decima era inigualable y respetable.

He effectively exercised teaching, social communication and letters. He was an accomplished composer and singer-songwriter, his expertise in composing, singing, performing and gesturing the poetry of the decima was unmatched and respectable.

Participo en un sin número de velorios y festivales; en ferias, fiestas patronales, velorios de cruz y de Santos como el gran poder de Dios, la Virgen Del Valle y otros.

He participated in countless wakes and festivals; in fairs, patron saint festivities, wakes of the cross and of Saints like the great power of God, the Virgin of the Valley and others.

Interpretó diversos cantos orientales y fue compositor de aguinaldos, polos, jotas, malagueñas, recitales y otras variantes del folclor oriental. Compuso las canciones de: el Bagre Amarillo, Mis Costumbres, El Ocaso de los Mitos, Añoranzas, Himno del Liceo Diego Carbonell, Canto al Libertador, Origen del Caserío, Homenaje a los Marines, Las Bellezas de mi Tierra, Consejo de mi Tío Juan, Mis plegarias por Cariaco, entre otras.

He performed various oriental songs and was a composer of aguinaldos, poles, jotas, malagueñas, recitals, and other variants of oriental folklore. He composed the songs of: the Yellow Catfish, My Customs, The Twilight of the Myths, Longings, Hymn of the Diego Carbonell Lyceum, Song to the Liberator, Origin of the Caserío, Tribute to the Marines, The Beauties of my Land, Council of my Uncle Juan , My prayers for Cariaco, among others.

Fue autor de cincuenta glosas de diversos temas, destacándose homenajes a Luis Mariano Rivera, al Gallo de Quiriquire, el Ruiseñor de Oriente, Anjá mi Maestro Anjá, Fabián Guerrero, Nicolás Yánez, Caledonio Guilarte, José Ramón Villarroel y Nicasio Bello.

He was the author of fifty glosses on various topics, highlighting tributes to Luis Mariano Rivera, the Rooster of Quiriquire, the Nightingale of the East, Anjá my Master Anjá, Fabián Guerrero, Nicolás Yánez, Caledonio Guilarte, José Ramón Villarroel and Nicasio Bello.

Antes de su ocaso prematuro, coordinaba un proyecto "Propuesta sobre una guía didáctica dirigida al Aprendizaje de los Cantos Tradicionales del Oriente Venezolano", que buscaba facilitar la formación de nuevas generaciones que permitieran la valorización de nuestros cantos y la comprensión del origen de nuestras raíces y elementos de la oriundez de la identidad local y regional.

Before his premature death, he coordinated a project "Proposal on a didactic guide aimed at Learning the Traditional Songs of the Venezuelan East", which sought to facilitate the training of new generations that would allow the appreciation of our songs and the understanding of the origin of our roots and elements of the origin of the local and regional identity.

Es lamentable la pérdida de mi padre que estaba por valorizar y rescatar lo que se ha perdido en el tiempo.

The loss of my father who was about to value and rescue what has been lost in time will always be regrettable.

Siempre extrañándote PAPÁ, Esperando que algún día se haga justicia.
