As The Saying Goes ....

avatar

There's a saying that goes ... "it's no use crying over spilled milk"! According to some sites it means why waste time crying over something that happened in the past or why waste time crying over something that happened that cannot be changed.
*Source

In my case though it isn't about milk but about hair. Yep! Hair!
Turns out that some people who have had covid can experience hair loss up to three months after having covid. I found that out after losing about two thirds of the hair on my head. It started approximately two weeks ago. when half of the hair on my scalp decided to spontaneously shed. The medical term for this is 'telogen effluvium' and it means that more hairs than normal have entered the shedding stage. It can be brought on by fever, illness, stress, childbirth and even weight loss. In my case it is most likely from the combination of illness and fever from covid but I do also believe that stress comes into play as well.

The shedding can last up to nine months and, at this point, I'm expecting the worst but hoping for better. There really isn't much one can do for this type of hair loss other that bide your time. They say the hair loss is temporary and will grow back. So, like "spilled milk" I haven't cried about it .. yet anyway. I do plan on seeing a dermatologist just to get a doctors confirmation and with my history of skin cancer, I'm way overdue for a check-up on that. I will certainly report back should the finding be any different but I don't expect that to be the case.

Seriously though, with everything that has happened to me these last few years it's a wonder that I haven't experienced this before now. Right here is where I'm showing you the wine that I'm currently enjoying since who wants to see a big handful of hair as a first photo. This is the same type of sparkling white wine that I posted about before but it is a different brand. This one is by Marchese Dell'Elsa and it is slightly less sweet than the previous one and a little less effervescent.

Oh ... but I'm gonna still show you some of that hair but first I would like to say that I've pretty much had long hair all of my life. Except that one time when I was about seven years old and I begged my mom for a 'Pixie' haircut. Let me just say that when you have curly hair a 'pixie' haircut usually just doesn't work out for you! Other than that one time my hair has been long. I do find that it is a bit cooler without so much hair and hair washing and styling is much faster. The bulk of my hair loss happened in about four days but I only saved the last big fall out. The falling out has tapered off some but it isn't done yet as just today I had a small handful come out. It didn't even come out nicely either but after having to comb it out (probably due to said curly hair) I was left with something that resembled a "Tribble". Any old Star Trek fans will get the reference but this is a short clip of why I say it resembles a Tribble that I got off yt.

Here is my one big Tribble which I put some eyes and a smile on 'cause why not!

asitgoes7-2-2021-4ok.gif

If I had thought to hold onto the other hair that fell out prior to the last big fall then I would probably have five good size Tribbles by now. I, seriously, only saved it in case my doctor wanted to see how much I lost. I also got to thinking that if H. Biden can get up to half a million dollars for his crappy artwork (cough..money laundering) then surely my little piece of artwork should be worth just as much! Oh well, I'm trying to joke around a little since like that "spilled milk" there isn't much to do about it and crying ain't gonna change a darn thing. Not saying I won't shed some tears at some point but for now I prefer to not get too upset over it. 💖

Very interesting! I'll take my chances on not taking the jab..period. It's also gonna be never ending boosters from what they say.

They are going to make it harder and harder not to take it.. They will keep taking things away from you.. They are making it mandatory for the Army to take.. Many are saying they will quit.. Which is what our communist govt would want.

Our Country is in a sad position right now and I sometimes wonder if we will recover but I hope so! I don't blame the ones that want to leave the military over this and it weighs heavy on my mind thinking of all the ones that paid the ultimate price for our freedoms that too many shit on yet don't want to relocate to any other country. I know a lot of Marines have refused the jab and are being punished for doing so. Now they are coming up with all of these bs variants with names like delta and lambda which interesting when you look at the meanings of these words. A never-ending barrage of booster jabs to follow. No thanks!

Obama had 8 years to infiltrate the government with communists.. The 2 Bush's before him were Globalist.. meaning world first USA last. Trump election ruined Hillary finishing us off. Thus Biden doing bidding of Globalists making up for 4 years lost.

Plan working perfectly ...divide and conquer ..over whelm the system.. collapse it. Killing 2 billion people will certainly speed things up...

Thank you @kohsamui99!! Yep, I'm pretty good at being able to laugh at myself and not take things so seriously. Maybe that comes from being in a large family and joking around with each other. It is weird since I probably wouldn't cut my hair short but so far I haven't been freaking out over losing it either. I usually say 'yet' but I hope I don't ever get to 'yet'. 😊

Dee, I really like your approach, there is nothing you can do to change your hair situation. Humour is very healing, your blue eyes and red lips are most attractive. Sending love and a virtual hug. 💗

Thanks so much Angie!! Love and virtual hug received and sending love and hugs back!! Hee hee, putting a little face on the hair I think made it a little less creepy looking. 💕

I remember seeing that episode of the Tribble. :)) I never thought of Covid-19 causing hair loss Dee. As you say there is no sense crying over spilled milk. This fallout is temporary and will grow back.

You have a great sense of humor and it will help with this little setback. Sending hugs and blessings.💞

Thanks so much Jo!! Yep, I had heard about it but didn't know it could take so long to happen and only happens in a percentage of people. It is what it is and no use crying over it. Not to say that I won't have a 'down' day here or there but so far so good. Hugs and Blessings to you as well Jo!! 💞

Even though there is no sense in crying over spilled milk, it is a loss. I just love your approach to this and life in general. I wish more people looked at life this way.

It does resemble a Tribble, doesn't it? LOL

I hope you get a speedy growth back and now you will get to see how it looks short as it grows! Love to you, Dee! Mwah!💖

Thanks so much Denise!! So far, it hasn't bothered me so much. I probably wouldn't purposely cut my hair short but if it is something out of my control then it will be what it will be. Lol..I'm happy you got a laugh out of the "Tribble". I felt better about posting it by making it a little funny. Much love back to you! 😘

Haha, I hope you don't mind, Dee, but your post made me smile from one ear to the other.
You want to know why? It's because I haven't made this experience after having Covid ... I cut my hair as short as possible regularly and sometimes I even shave my head 😊

We have the same saying about spilled milk and it's competely right, what's happened has happened. Hair are no plants, they won't grow when you water them, especially not with salt water ;)

By the way, I love your artwork, you should keep it 😁

Oh yes, I had much fun reading it, because your sense of humor is great, but also because just yesterday I cut my hair and also shaved my gray Silver Goat beard that has been growing since April 😁

The price can only go up, just be patient 😊

That is a lot of hair, at least it is happening in the summer and not the bitter cold of winter. I usually get my hair cut in Feb, that way it has time to grow long enough to protect my neck during the winter.

Good attitude on the loss, not much can be done about it other than wait it out. Maybe it will grow back with a slightly different shade or thickness. I wish mine would get back to being a little bit thicker, but it is what it is.

Thanks so much @bashadow! I did think about that but Winter is also a great time for a nice warm hat..lol.
I think the only colors I have a chance of it coming back in as is blond-ish or gray at this time in my life. I haven't fretted about it yet and am prepared for the worst I guess since not much to do about it anyway other than wait it out. I feel like the older I get then the faster time goes so shouldn't take too long I think. 🤨😊
