Trees Along The South White Trail

Today, I'll be showing you some trees along the South White Trail. This trail is part of the Gunpowder Falls State Park in the Hereford Zone of Baltimore County, Maryland.

The ending of my visit was extremely hard because at the time we (husband and I) did not know that the lower trail had been washed out the prior year from some flood waters.

If you had asked me then if I would try this trail again then the answer would have been no but now after some time has passed then I would say definitely. Just check out this big "burly" tree that stood on a hill!

This was a Spring visit so I saw some other gorgeous trees in bloom including this Eastern Redbud tree. It was a joy to see this Redbud and its pretty pink blooms and it looked so small next to some of the other trees near it.

I thought this was an odd photo when I was going over the shots that I took that day. I sure didn't remember seeing any foggy or smoky areas while there.

Turns out that I took that photo while at the top of the hill and that foggy looking spot is actually the river water way down below!

That is also the hill that we had to trudge back up without a trail and why it was so hard on me. In retrospect, we probably should've just back-tracked and gone back up the trail that we came down to the river but we were half way back before the trail by the water came to an abrupt end.

Honestly though, after looking back on these photos, I can say that I will definitely try to go back in Fall. Can you just imagine how more beautiful it would be to see these trees in their Autumn colors?! I know I can and if I'm lucky enough to catch those colors then I'll be sure to share the photos so you won't have to imagine but can see and enjoy them also! 😊

Thank you @old-guy-photos for #treetuesday!

Hi @deerday, Such a gorgeous natural place where you walked. That was awesome trail. I know you breathed very fresh air and there are pure water resource. The trees seems like oldest but much stronger. Bunches of flowers inspiring my mind lot. Beautiful images captured while your walk.

Thank you so much @madushanka!! It is a really pretty trail and a great spot to catch some fresh air and clear the mind. The area where the Redbud tree is had some newly planted trees there. They were quite the contrast next to the bigger trees. I am wondering how much they've grown since last I was there. Hopefully, I'll find out in a couple of months if I can get back there. 😉 💖
