Photo Tour throughout my neighbourhood in Amsterdam: Beauty is everywhere Around us!

(Edited)

While the community - sorry: whole of cryptospace - is in turmoil with all the drama around limiting power of several account holding a large portion of ninja mined Steem and subsequently the hostile takeover (attempt) of the Steem blockchain by the new owner of the development company of the Steem chain...

...time for the most important thing in life: NJOY the little things!

I'll be taking you on a little tour through my neighbourhood, showing you in a series of stills the beauty I'm theoretically able to see each single day since I do walk around quite a lot. BUT, most of the time I'm walking, I have a destination to go to - whether it be the food market, the coffee corner, a restaurant, or some shop - and take not too much notice of what is around me. Something I think a lot of people do, focus on what comes next, rather than enjoy the moment, enjoy what is next to us, enjoy the little things.

But before reading further: please click me and cast your witness votes!

More and more - over time - I'm able to wind down more easily; Usually when I take a walk without any destination, just a walk. I try and push all my thoughts out; Slow my pace; Turn around my head to anything that I usually don't take notice of; Absorb what I see. When all that comes together, I feel absolutely great, even when the walk is just half an hour. I urge you to do the same. If you like, leave the camera at home, since that distracts a bit. I usually don't take photographs, but without them, I would not be able to write this article for you :)

Looking up into the sky, we not only are able to see the sky, but also the semi-old street lanterns. Many years ago, the city council ordered all street lanterns to have a classic look, to give character to our streets. That said: All these are equipped with LED-lights, hence ultra modern.

To the other side of the canal I'm living at, we have this little street which gives me the feel being in a small village, every single time I pass through it. Maybe I am, since Amsterdam is not too big, about 600k citizens in total. Compared to large cities around the world, it could be classified as a village :) But in my little country, Amsterdam is considered large :) Anyway, this little street has some beautiful little monumental houses. Nothing like apartment blocks or something, simply small houses like we see in so many small villages in my country. Am always amazed and feeling positive we have this, and it is kinda around the corner from where I live.

A little further down this street, some project builder must have thought to do things differently to anything in the city. In Netherlands we love concrete and stone buildings; And then we have these wooden houses. Maybe not too great looking, but very interesting to have them.

I really love this one, at the end of the street at the side of the canal. Obviously build a long long time ago. Never took the effort to determine the age of this characteristic building. Guess, too laid back and relaxed when walking these no-destination walks :)

This canal I'm talking about. We view a home of several different animal types; Mostly domestic animals - rabbits, ducks, goats and what not - loved by the children in the neighbourhood to go and feed and pamper them whenever they can. Less than 2 kilometers away from the absolute centre of the city, how cool is that? I never saw something like that in other major European cities.

Seen this place many times; A bit of everything; Almost a living room outside. Guess what: Nobody seem to steel all these little things; Though the owners seem to be scared their bench can be a target; Such a huge chain! Too funny if you ask me :)

Turning a corner, or two, maybe three or four blocks down the road, I arrived at this bridge with a view of one of our canal cross-points. Sure, a bit too far out for a nice still; Bare with me for a moment and scroll down with me... In the mean time, check out these houseboats. We have so many of them in my city; hundreds at least, maybe even thousands...

Little intermezzo: A few characteristics of my city. 4 story houses with this wild green/grey climbing plants; Very common in Amsterdam. On top of the houses this little hook (with rope). They are used to lift larger items and put them into the homes through the windows on the respective floors, since the stairs going up is so small, even a decent size chair doesn't fit.

The neighbour: well... Is he/she the one who started the Corona virus distribution in the Netherlands? Its for sure a special version: Extra :)

Time to relax a bit; Joining the - lonely - hat...

...directly at the canal crossing you've seen above... 4 arms, at the bottom left and right, and at the back left and right. No docking of boats allowed, but this one thinks: Rules don't apply :)

Talking about rules; We have a set of really strange signs; I suppose all with the proper purpose, but still. Check this one - at the right side of bridge and still - the white/red sign telling those who sail boats not to make a sound or play music when going under the bridge into the canal behind. First time ever I've noticed this one! Too funny! :)

And what about this one? Just in front of the bench I was hanging out for a little while; No feeding of birds and ducks. Ok ok, I get that, they always come back; We all know that; I suppose some of us don't and we had to design a sign and put it up for all of us. Hahahaha... again: Too funny! :)

Approaching my apartment, I had to take a picture of this little store. Being a music fan, I was happy to see all the vinyls outside. Shop open; Antic stuff - well: old stuff maybe not antic; And probably a music fan as well. Next time I'll step into the shop and get myself a treat.

Am very much looking forward to see what your eyes see when going through your neighbourhood. In case you have something posted, leave a message, include the link if you will and I'll check it out for sure.

for now: Carpe Diem
