Garlic is a type of tuber plant which is known as one of the parts of the spices of Asian cuisine, Indonesia is one of the regions that have a fairly crowded garlic consumer.

Today, the price of garlic on the market reaches IDR 60,000 per kilogram. The need for garlic which is one of the spices in Indonesia makes it one of the agricultural imports from various other Asian countries.

China is one of the countries that import garlic to Indonesia, according to the literacy I read, annually China imports garlic with an estimated 69,507 tons in 2019. Certainly a fantastic amount.

Research from the Journal of Nutrition that uses aged garlic also shows the effect of decreasing calcium levels and C-reactive protein in coronary arteries. Calcium deposits in coronary arteries are a sign of plaque buildup that can narrow or clog arteries. While C-reactive protein is a special protein that triggers inflammation.

Reducing the risk of cancer

Launch of the National Center for Biotechnology Information, research evidence so far shows a link between regular consumption of garlic with a reduced risk of several types of cancer. Including stomach cancer (stomach, colon, and small intestine), esophageal cancer, pancreatic cancer, breast cancer, and prostate cancer.

Brain Health

A team of researchers from the University of Missouri found that a carbohydrate derivative in garlic known as FruArg protects brain cells against the effects of aging and disease. FruArg has been reported to reduce levels of nitric oxide produced by microglial cells in the brain against inflammation and oxidative stress.

Bawang putih adalah tanaman jenis umbi-umbian yang dikenal sebagai salah satu bahagian dari bumbu masakan Asia, Indonesia merupakan salah satu kawasan yang memiliki konsumen bawang putih yang cukup ramai.

Minimnya produksi bawang putih lokal tidak mampu mencukupi kebutuhan dalam negeregi, hal inilah yang menyebabkan Indonesia saban tahun harus mengimport bawang putih setiap tahunnya.

Selain sebagai kebutuhan dapur, ternyata bawang puitih memiliki manfaat lainnya yang dipercayai baik dan bagus untuk kesehatan. Saya pernah mencobanya ketikasuatu hari mengalami sakit gigi yang luar biasa, obat antibiotik yang saya minum tidak mampu meredam rasa sakit yang cukup menderita sekali.

Menurunkan kolesterol

Bawang putih telah lama dianggap sebagai salah satu makanan terbaik untuk mencegah kolesterol tinggi. Sebuah penelitian terdahulu yang dimuat dalam Journal of Postgraduate Medicine melaporkan makan sekitar 10 gram bawang putih mentah (1-2 siung kecil) setiap hari berhasil menurunkan kolesterol cukup drastis dalam dua bulan.

Mengendalikan tekanan darah

Ya! Potensi manfaat bawang putih untuk menurunkan tekanan darah telah lama dikenal sebanding dengan obat hipertensi generik. Sebuah penelitian dari Pakistan Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences melaporkan bahwa efek penurunan tekanan darah sistolik dan diastolik sehabis makan bawang putih mentah hampir sama dengan obat atenolol.

Menyehatkan jantung

Penelitian dari Journal of Nutrition yang menggunakan aged garlic juga menunjukkan efek penurunan kadar kalsium serta protein C-reaktif dalam arteri koroner. Endapan kalsium dalam arteri koroner adalah tanda adanya penumpukan plak yang dapat mempersempit atau menyumbat arteri. Sementara protein C-reaktif adalah protein khusus yang memicu peradangan.

Menurunkan risiko kanker

Melansir dari National Center for Biotechnology Information, bukti penelitian sejauh ini menunjukkan kaitan antara konsumsi bawang putih rutin dengan penurunan risiko beberapa jenis kanker. Termasuk kanker perut (lambung, usus besar, dan usus kecil), kanker kerongkongan, kanker pankreas, kanker payudara, dan kanker prostat.

Menjaga Kesehatan Otak

Sebuah tim peneliti dari Universitas Missouri menemukan bahwa turunan karbohidrat dalam bawang putih yang dikenal sebagai FruArg melindungi sel-sel otak terhadap efek penuaan dan penyakit. FruArg dilaporkan mengurangi kadar oksida nitrat yang diproduksi oleh sel mikroglia di dalam otak selama melawan peradangan dan stres oksidatif.
