The Wandering Chick ─ An Original Poem

A lonely and narrow path it was,
The division between grasses and tall trees,
Like the rod of Moses in the red sea.
A bend here and there,
So was the road on which I travelled to my farm
Until the day I found a wandering chick
That chirped and scampered, terrified.
Two voices rang out in my head,
The red one asked me to ignore
Yet, another told me to help, help the poor chick.
But I heeded to the first voice
And picked up the little creature
I combed the bushes around
Placed my ears and eyes on the ground
Until I heard louder chirpings and saw the mother hen
With a dozen of the other siblings
Of the tiny chick held in my fingers.
I let it go, go to meet the mother hen and its siblings.
It shook its tail and ran, happy.
I hope that sometimes in the future
When I go astray
A supreme being would find me
And take me home.
