HOW I MADE A NEW BAG DESIGN USING A PATTERNED WINE COLOUR LEATHER.
Good morning everyone,
This morning I want to share with us my new bag design. This design is a new one created by me. I decided to create something different from my previous designs so I designed this flap and went for this kind of thick short hand. I was initially contemplating if I should go with two short hands. One on the flap and the other at the back like one of my previous designs but I later went with this. I figured the pattern on the flap is lovely and it would be nice not to put anything on it.
MATERIALS USED
- Soft fibre
- Leather of choice
- Bottom pin
- Suade lining
- Gas pipe for the handle
- Pelican paper
- Magnet
- Gum
- Puncher
- Hammer
PROCESS
- The first thing I did was to mark out the pattern on the soft fibre and leather then cut it out. I also did the same for the sides just the I used Soft black leather for the sides instead of fibre. This is to allow flexibility.
- Next I wrapped the leather around the gas pipe with the help of gum and strong super glue. Then I made holes on the top of the bag using puncher and inside I inserted the short handle as seen below. Next I gummed them together using the strong super glue.
- Here I fixed the bottom pin, sew the capped leather lining with the Suade lining. Then I fixed the magnet on the top of the leather lining, gummed the upper part with main body of the bag, fixed the other side of the magnet and gum the rest of the lining with the bag. I also gummed the side lining with the sides after fixing the D rings.
- Finally I sew the sides with the main body of the bag. But before that, I forgot to add zip so before I gummed the rest of the lining with the bag, I quickly sew a inner pocket with the lining as seen below.
- First picture I took after sewing the bag.
