I CHALLENGED MYSELF BY MAKING THE MOST COMPLEX BAG I'VE EVER MADE AND IT EMBODIES AN INNER COMPARTMENT, INNER POCKET AND INNER ZIP.

Good morning everyone,

This beautiful morning I'm excited to share my latest design with you. I'm telling you, this is the most complex bag I've ever made. I started yesterday morning and I finish making it around 3am this morning. First of, I wasn't able to get how I want the outer look to be on time which delayed me and when I started, I realised the materials I needed like the lining, the handle were exhausted. I was devastated at this point because where I buy my materials is quite far and I was too tired to go and yet I wanted to make the bag yesterday and so I decided to proceed. The important goal is to get the concept of the bag and be able to execute it so I used the available materials on ground though they weren't the ones I supposed to use, I had to improvise and I decided not to sell this one. Since its the first sample and mistakes are there already.

What makes the bag complex for me to make was the fact that it has some touch to it that my previous bags doesn't have. I got tired of having the inside of my bag empty with no enough compartments so I made an inner compartment to demarcate the bag, I made an inner zip and an inner pocket. Also most of my latest bags hardly have zip covering it. I use mainly flaps and bag lock but on this one, I have a zip covering the bag. I'll be discussing the mistakes I made later in this post but for now let me take you through its process.

MATERIALS USED

  • Maco 2
  • Synthetic skin leather
  • Zip
  • Suade lining
  • Zip head
  • Chi board paper
  • Oketex fibre
  • Rivet
  • Bottom pins
  • D rings
  • Adjuster
  • Gum

PROCESS

  • The first thing I did was to mark out its patter using desired measurements which is 8 inches height, 12 inches length and 5.5 inches wide. After marking on the Fibre, I cut it out and I also cut our the leather and I gummed them together. I also did the same for the sides, handle and the leather that will hold the zip.

  • Next I sew the D rings to the sides and I gummed the lining with it and sew the corner sides as seen below. Also I sew zip to the lining that will for the inner compartment and I sew the sides all round.

  • Next I sew another leather that will hold the zip leather to the bag with the main lining of the bag. All three together.

  • Finally on the coupling phase,I gummed the lining with the main body of the bag and trimmed off the excess lining at the sides. Then I sew the sides with the bag. I gummed them together and I sew on my cylinder bed machine. Once that was done, I fixed in the zip head to the main zip and I gummed a piece of small leather to the tip.

  • After sewing the sides with the bag,I tagged the design leather I sew earlier on using the rivet and I made a tassel design to the bag.

  • The mistakes I made was the fact that the handle ought to be longer than this a little, I ought to use same color of lining all through instead of using brown for the pocket andbi had to when I realised my black lining was exhausted. My stitches ought to be neater than this and color machine the bag. That's all the mistakes I noticed.

FINAL LOOK OF THE BAG

This is a very attractive bag! I like the neutral color that will go with many different outfits, and the patterning on the leather is lovely! The design of the interior is perfect, too! It looks so professional with your name on the tag! Great job! 😃
