¡Abrazos!

Hello dear friends, I hope you are excellent and your weeks have been very useful,

The daily work of today is a kind of second part of a series of publications that I will bring you, this second fragment is part of the famous symphonic poem Don Juan by the composer Richard Strauss,

Just as a few days ago we have already talked about this important composer, how do I do in that case, I am going to refresh your memory a little and summarize important points that we must remember when listening to his works.

Richard Strauss (1864 - 1949)

  • Vienna

  • Late romanticism

  • Great relationship with the philosophical work of that time and with the philosophers

  • Harmonically mature works, to take full advantage of what is something similar to his music, such as descriptive music

Taking this into account, I am going to focus on the latter that I want to explain, because it is very interesting and I just wanted to talk about it in the second post.

For me this has been a kind of descriptive music because as its name says, Richard Strauss sought to put music on what it was based on. A kind of capturing a story but in music, with very descriptive details.

In this second excerpt, which is right on the second page, we will hear very curiously as the "other side" or "the other side" of this character, from Don Juan

We are going to listen subtly and elsewhere clinging (especially in the eighths) not the desire to fight, and the courage, but this time the love you feel for someone. The earthly love that we all come to feel for someone. Something very different, without a doubt, from what we heard on the first page.

We are going to notice how little by little this feeling begins to appear, with more sonorous and other less sonorous parts, others more acute and others serious. Giving a kind of description to the ups and downs and when that love grows or when that love goes away. Something extremely wonderful.

For you to notice, here is the link:

As always dear friends and readers, thank you very much for so much. You are always welcome in my daily publications, which are yours more than mine too. Hugs!
