The Band / Back Home (Freewrite)

At a very young age, Dory wanted to become a singer. But she loves to sing smooth and alternative rock so she joined a band while in high school. After graduating, she decided to go to the city with her band to audition for record labels. The band was rejected a number of times until they decided to perform in bars.

A record label executive saw their performance once in the bar, and was impressed with Dory and her vocals. He waited for the end of the performances, and the record label talked to Dory. He wanted her to go to his office, and interested to sign her but that will exclude her band. She doesn't want to leave her band so she refused until the executive decided to have her band instead.

They went to the office to check with other label bosses. All of them wowed at their sample performance so they decided to have them ink a deal immediately. They even wanted them to be promoted internationally so they were sent to a nearby country so their career will reach the global scale.

Writing songs, recording, and release of their first single was done in just two months. The song started to build up in radio, and eventually sold well to chart in the top 10 in just a week of release. Within a month, it's already at number 1. The song was about the political unrest which strickened her country on her younger years.

Fame has grown more as they became international stars. They began to sell millions of records, and toured the world for concerts. But fame isn't something that made Dory totally happy. While in her hotel room, she cried as she misses back home. Her family, her town, and the simple life she had there. She took her pen and paper, and started to write what she feels. Afterwards, she created a tune with the words she wrote.

In the morning, she talked to her bandmates. They cried, and eventually did a group hug. In their concert that night, Dory had her moment to talk, and she said these:

"Last night, I am in my hotel room crying. I don't know why. I might be tired from touring, or I am just missing a lot of things. Then my brain took me to where I live. I knew why I felt such sadness. I miss my family, friends, home, and the once ordinary life that I had. I took a paper with my pen, and wrote my heart out. I hummed, and began to build a tune from the words I wrote. I am now singing this song for the first time in front of other people. This is dedicated to my home."

After the performance, she announced her retirement which saddened her fans, and had a group hug with her band. In the morning, Dory went back home, and the new song she wrote which she recorded with her band before the concert was released. She may be out of the limelight now, but happy to be with her family again.
