Another Year is over - thank you all

One year ago we said that 2021 would be better than 2020 - let's hope that 2022 will be better than 2021.

Actually, I wanted to publish this post on New Year's Eve, but I will be at work (24-hour nightshift) and don't know if I will find enough time. So my last post of the year is a bit earlier than planned 😉

I love this little group of trees. They are on my way up to a mountain where I often go for a little walk or photograph sunrise or sunset. Behind them is the valley and if there's no clouds or fog the background is too distracting to get a nice photo like this one.

I hope you have had a peaceful and happy Christmas time and enjoy the holidays.

2021 is almost over and I think we will have to live a while longer with this worldwide situation, but I don't want to talk about that because everybody has his or her own opinion, which I respect, and I have mine.

I have taken this photo from the Magdalensberg mountain near my hometown, which is below the clouds, towards the Karawanks mountain range in the south and I have been very lucky that there was a gap in the clouds that allowed the sun to nicely lit up these peaks.

Today I want to say thank you to all members of the Hive with some of the photos I have taken in the past days.

I said "members", but I mean "friends", because I can honestly say that from my first day on, unlike in real life or on other platforms, I have met only kind and supportive people here.

A little down from the Magdalensberg mountain, where I have taken the photo before this one, I had this view which I absolutely love.

Quite some of you have become very special friends to me over the years, who I would never want to miss anymore, who belong to my family.

From South Africa and Australia in the south to Russia and Canada in the north, from Asia to America, from my neighbour countries and even from here in Austria - my Hive family and friends are from everywhere 😁
I don't want to mention names, because this post would get too long and I am sure I would forget some.

The weekend before Christmas I have been on the Dobratsch mountain, where I haven't been in quite a while because since the pandemic began, this mountain is just overrun at any day at any time.
But on this day I was quite lucky to be the first on the peak, but too many people followed and I escaped the noise by heading down again. On my way back I could take this photo of the sunrise, which shows how windy it was on that morning.

The Hive was the best thing I have encountered since I entered the internet back in the nineties, because needing to post about me and my home has pushed me back to the outdoors and to photography.

It was cloudy and foggy on Christmas Day, but the fog wasn't intense enough to block all of the rising sun, so the whole scene at the lake Wörthersee was lit up nicely in an orange tone, and a cormorant was so kind to fly across the scene to make the image with the peninsula Maria Wörth a little bit more interesting.

But in the past months, due to much stress at work during the days, I haven't been able to post often, or I should better say that most times I haven't been in the mood to post after long and tiring days, and this situation will last for quite a while longer than thought and hoped.
Also, the NFT thing where I try to sell some of my photos at the moment, takes some time too, but it might help me buying new gear or hopefully even a small van, which I have been dreaming of for years.

I have been a little bit too late at this place the day after Christmas, because minutes before I have taken this and the following photos, the clouds and the whole sky were intense pink coloured. But the subtle and pastel coloured scene was lovely anyway.

I'm so gladful that there are photo contests like the contest of @worldcapture / @PhotoFeed with a different photographic theme each week and the Season Hunt hosted by @Barbara-Orenya / FeelGood Community to name only two.
These contests are motivating me very much, unless I have to search pumpkins or to take street photos or portraits 😉

To the right of the photo before this one is the Castle Haimburg near Völkermarkt, about an hour away from my home, and the castle was almost fully covered by the pink fog. I love such minimalist scenes, especially this time of year.

The photos above have been taken towards south and west, and this one was taken towards the east. The sun was behind the mountain and covered by clouds, but nevertheless I liked the scene, although I still hate power lines 🤣

I'm wishing you all the best, healthiness and happiness and maybe a Hive price that gives us all a little bit of financial freedom or at least that makes our life easier.

I know there's not much to see, but apart from colourful sunrises or sunsets, I love the lake Wörthersee a lot when it's foggy like here, so I can take minimalist photos, which I'm loving more and more.

Thank you, my friends and family, thank you for all the kindness and love I am experiencing here again and again.
In the beginning I have said "let's hope that 2022 will be better than 2021" ... let's do anything to make 2022 a better year anyway.

Ist eigentlich auch egal - bei den meisten Fotos ist es schwer, zu sehen, ob es ein Sonnenaufgang oder -untergang ist, wenn man den Ort nicht kennt 😉 Dankeschön nochmals 🙏

I look forward to the New Year. I did not get out and about for many photo hunts at all this year for a variety of reason. I always enjoy the views from your neck of the woods and you have some very scenic places, or at least make them look scenic with your camera. When you get time enjoy the New Year.

Private, I'm also looking forward to the New Year because I really want to force myself to get out more and take more photos. Job wise, I'm not so very happy, because I know it's going to be even harder, at least in the first couple of months.

Actually I wanted to answer this post on New Years eve, but like the Austrian mountain goat here, I will also jump the gun with this comment.
You have been a special friend of mine for a long time now Hannes and we have walked many roads in life together. I just have one great wish for you.

Haha, Zac, that lens isn't really short, the 70-200mm is actually a telephoto lens, but too short for taking sharp photos of birds in a distance, so you are somehow right it's a short lens 🤣 !LOLZ

My camera has that lens my friend 😉

The problem is that even if the room is wonderful, it seems that you don't listen to your wife or Mother nature and you might also confuse Lady Patience's voice with you wife's voice 🤣 LOLZ

No it won't fit on your camera, but you can buy a camera like mine for 10% of the price for your lens 😉

Really I missed your post? How did this happen it cannot be I'm late again!

2021 brought about change in many ways, many have learned to enjoy what is around them and these spectacular photographs, as throughout the year always cheer me up.

Each photograph presents such a different story it is hard to fathom or select the top three, although I would lean toward the first three. Magdalensberg mountain near my hometown with peaks in the sunshine, fog reaching up through the tree line maybe... hmmmm, no each one a beauty in it's own rights.

Thanks for a year filled with sharing, chatting and yes making the most of life as we have it at the moment through lockdowns and everything else that came our way. To all the 2020/21 survivors, we have our health!

Enjoy 2022 when you reach there, sure not going to be much different I don't think, perhaps tougher financially. Pulling long 24 hour shift, you need new straws?

Thanks yo much for your always thoughtful comments and the nice compliments. No need to pick a favourite - I don't have one either 😉 I have had only a few short, but very nice photo trips in the past weeks. I want to change this in 2022 and go out more often.

We have survived 2 years of the pandemic and we will survive the next years until it all will be normal (again), but I do hope that 2022 will be a bit better

We are having an easy day and if everything's fine we'll sleep into 2022 🤣

Happy New Year now officially 2022, after the president lifting all curfew yesterday morning, the people really went to town last night with parties and fireworks throughout. Cloud hung over the street light like fog last night from fireworks, balmy 21C.

Woody actually did not have a total panic attack after all the bad storms, maybe he realized it was tomfoolery.

Today sunshine, definitely a braai outdoors, early evening predicting rain again. There will be many very sun burned people today, beaches will be busy!

Sunday morning looks like a fine time for beach walk, already twisting my sons arm to get the dogs down once again.

No wishes just get stuck in and make plans happen! Wishes are for fishes, time to get up and go while the going is good!

It's foggy here in town, but best weather above the clouds. The cats are still traumatized from the fireworks our "nice" neighbours have shot in front of the house.

Braai was fantabulous in melt down conditions 28C 88% humidity, swirling a cool light beer helps, all good till later when Zeus puts in a show again.

Beach in the morning with son and both dogs should help take the excess off from meals, no sun overcast with 23C predicted so hopefully that holds true to it's word!

All who swarmed to the beaches today will look like fried turkeys tonight it was hot! Hope you long shift is over and some time to relax and take charge.

I remember sun burns from childhood whenI was red as a lobster, and it hurt soooo much 😅 Never ever I want this again.

My nightshift was over in the morning and after changing clothes at home I wanted to take some photos of a waterfall, but there wasn't enough water and the ice was all dirty, but it might cool you down anyway if the weather forecast is wrong 😂

Wishing you all the best as we enter 2022. Today is 1 January for me in Australia and I too along with you and most of the world wonder what will this year bring and only hope beyond hope that it will be happier and healthier. We all feel the same I know. I think of the people who get sick especially the ones who are not vaccinated and it saddens me that they may get very very sick struggling to breathe.

I too, really enjoy the friendship of so many lovely kind hearted nice friends and feel belonged on this site. Wishing you all the happiness I can muster and sending you lots of positives and lots of energy. I fail miserably as a writer when tired, so posting everyday is not possible.

As usual your photos are superb, you have such an artistic eye. Sending lots of good vibes for selling your work. I hope you get enough to buy a little van too. Happy New Year.🙏

I also think we belong here. @janton said once that I am addicted, and I certainly was in my first years when I have posted daily. It's different now as I am only posting about once a week, but I couldn't be without the Hive and all the friends I'm having here.

The virus will accompany us for another year, I believe, and slowly we will get used of it and of the restrictions and rules, of which many might stay even after the pandemic.

Thank you for your lovely blessings and wishes, always welcoming received. Being addicted is how I felt when I started. It is now a balanced approach for me.
I think you are right about living with covid, we never would have ever believed in 2020 that this pandemic would still be affecting the world in 2022.

Photos are all lovely and it would be hard to pick a favorite. Lake Wörthersee in the orange light is awesome. Love your minimalist photos in the fog. They really grow on a person. These are becoming quite the classics.

To me it seems as if work has even increased since the pandemic began, but that's only partly the case. Workflows are different now, many tasks have become more complicated.

Work is more complicated, for sure. How did it ever get this way? We are supposed to be resting on our laurels, not working harder. :) Where does all my time go? I haven't had a good hike since November.

Oh, that is a shame for both of us!! I need a good hike, one that gives my legs the burn from climbing too much. I feel so underworked (out) :)

You're very right, Denise, it's enough.
I have had plans for quite a few hikes in the past year, but have done only 2 or 3 real hikes. This is something I want to change in 2022.
