Actually, I wanted to report about my working day after Austria has shut down to minimal operation.

My day in the office was relatively normal as usual, except that we somehow laughed more. Some things weren't really laughable, but the day has passed and work was easier.

Eigentlich wollte ich über meinen heutigen Arbeitstag berichten, nachdem Österreich auf Minimalbetrieb heruntergefahren ist.

Mein Tag im Büro war relativ normal wie immer, außer dass wir irgendwie mehr gelacht haben. Manches war zwar nicht wirklich zum Lachen, aber der Tag ist vergangen und die Arbeit ging leichter von der Hand.

Otherwise, I didn't notice much of a "minimal operation", except that the traffic on the streets was a little less than usual.

Of course, the overall mood is a bit depressed and everyone is wondering what will happen now, whether the measures will really work or whether we will isolate ourselves for nothing.

I also wondered if maybe we should have made hamster purchases like everyone else, but after my wife came home with two large packs of toilet paper earlier, I knew that at least this problem was none since Saturday the shelves with the toilet paper were empty.

Ansonsten habe ich nicht viel mitbekommen von einem "Minimalbetrieb", außer dass der Verkehr auf den Straßen etwas weniger war als sonst.

Natürlich ist die gesamte Stimmung etwas gedrückt und jeder fragt sich, was nun werden wird, ob die Maßnahmen wirklich funktionieren werden oder wir uns umsonst isolieren.

Ich habe mich auch gefragt, ob wir vielleicht wie alle anderen Hamsterkäufe hätten machen sollen, aber nachdem meine Frau vorhin mit zwei großen Packungen WC-Papier nach Hause gekommen ist, wusste ich, dass zumindest dieses Problem keines mehr ist, denn am Samstag waren die Regale mit dem Toilettenpapier leer gewesen.

My children are both free of school and work for a few weeks and they are already bored.

Fortunately, the weather is warm like spring, so my son can ride the motorbike around the lake now and then, which he has done twice today, and my daughter went out with the skateboard earlier.

We are not locked up and if you want to get some fresh air, you can of course do it. But you should do these activities alone or with the people you are living with together.

Meine Kinder haben beide für ein paar Wochen frei und denen ist jetzt schon langweilig.

Glücklicherweise ist das Wetter frühlingshaft warm und so kann mein Sohn mit dem Motorrad hin und wieder um den See fahren, was er heute bereits zwei Mal gemacht hat, und meine Tochter ist vorhin mit dem Skateboard raus.

Wir sind ja nicht eingesperrt und wenn man an die frische Luft will, dann darf man das natürlich machen. Aber man soll diese Tätigkeiten alleine oder mit den Menschen machen, mit denen man ohnehin zusammen lebt.

Pulmonaria officinalis / Geflecktes Lungenkraut

I am quite sure that these flowers are called Pulmonaria officinalis, but I have never seen photos with such dark leaves, because they are usually green with light spots. In any case, the small flower belongs to the family of Pulmonaria.

Because of the different flower colors, this flower is also called Hansel and Gretel or little brother and little sister in German.

Bei dem Gefleckten Lungenkraut bin ich mir zwar sicher, dass es so heißt, aber ich habe nirgendwo Fotos mit so dunklen Blättern gesehen, denn normalerweise sind sie grün mit hellen Flecken. In jedem Fall gehört die kleine Blume zur Familie der Lungenkräuter (Pulmonaria).

Wegen der verschiedenen Blütenfarben wird diese Blume unter anderem auch Hänsel und Gretel oder Brüderchen und Schwesterchen genannt.

I took all three photos with the Sigma 105mm macro lens. You can easily see that I did focus stacking when you look at the photos in fullsize view, because there were some difficulties especially with the flowers, so that not everything I wanted to be sharp became sharp.

Alle drei Fotos habe ich mit dem Sigma 105mm Makroobjektiv fotografiert. Dass ich Focus Stacking gemacht habe, könnt ihr ganz leicht erkennen, wenn ihr die Fotos in der Vollansicht anschaut, denn speziell bei den Blümchen hat es einige Schwierigkeiten gegeben, so dass nicht alles scharf geworden ist, was ich scharf haben wollte.

So that's all for today. Maybe I can report something positive tomorrow.

So, das ist alles für heute. Vielleicht kann ich schon morgen etwas Positives berichten.

Great photos, lovely flowers, but my favourite is first photography of moss.
I hope that you and your family will get through this crisis without any complications.
Here in England everything is still normal, but sooner or later we will go to lockdown too.

Hopefully !BEER and !COFFEEA will help you with isolation 😁.

schon toll wenn man da in die Vergrößerung geht.

Da bin ich mit meiner Kunst schon am Ende. Irgendwie klappt das mit dem Autofocus nicht so wie ich das gerne hätte.

Was ich meine wirst Du morgen sehen wenn ich die Tarantel welche ich heute vor der Linse hatte poste.

Guten Morgen Peter,

leider kann ich die Bilder nicht in voller Auflösung hochladen, sondern muss sie auf etwa die Hälfte runterskalieren.
Aber ohne Stativ geht bei mir gar nichts und nachdem ich solche Bilder auch nicht so oft mache, passiert es natürlich, dass nicht alles so scharf wird, wie ich gerne hätte ;)

Moin Johann,

ich kann keine Tiere mit einen Stativ ablichten. Habe gestern wieder versucht ein paar Kolibris scharf einzufangen. Ich habe sie zwar auf dem Bild aber die Schärfe ist in der Vergrößerung das Problem. Sie waren alle in Bewegung und ich konnte nur einen Punkt fixieren und dann wenn sie in dem Bereich waren abdrücken.

Leider passt auch das Licht nicht, es war Dämmerung und grüne Vögel im grünen Strauch. So gehts nicht.

Aber mein Spinnchen da habe ich wieder schöne Fotos hinbekommen wenn auch nicht ganz so scharf wie bei Deinen Blumen. Liegt wohl am Autofocus.

Hallo Peter,

gerade noch erwischt - mache gleich Arbeitsschluss und bin aber wahrscheinlich erst abends wieder zu Hause.

Bei Tieren verwende ich das Stativ als "Einbeinstativ" - hilft schon gegen Verwackelungen, aber sich schnell bewegende Vögel und andere Tiere fotografiere ich mit Serienbildfunktion: Autofokus auf die Augen und dann eine Serie Fotos machen. Ein paar Bilder passen dann eigentlich immer, wahrscheinlich auch bei Kolibris, so schnelle Vögel habe ich aber noch nie fotografiert ;)

Bei Blumen und so mache ich meistens Focus Stacking - viele Einzelbilder der einzelnen Schärfeebenen, die dann in Photoshop zusammengerechnet und überblendet werden, wobei bei mir immer was danebengeht ;)
Wenn die Spinne ganz ruhig ist, dann könntest du es auch so machen, aus der Hand ist das aber recht schwierig, dass die Einzelbilder dann übereinander passen.

Aber Tierfotografie ist immer schwierig, und je kleiner das Tierchen, desto schwieriger ;)

Wenn ich vor der Spinne liege und ihr quasi direkt in die Augen schau, kann ich keine Stativ mehr nehmen, da muss meine Hand welche ja auch dem Boden aufliegt reichen.

Kolibris sind so schnell, die kannst mit dem Auge kaum erfassen, geschweige denn mit der Kamera. Da was zu treffen gleicht einem 5er im Lotto.

Ja natürlich, bei den Tierchen würde ich auch nur ein Stativ nehmen, wenn sie wirklich ruhig auf irgendeinem Strauch oder einer Blume sitzen würden und nicht rumlaufen. Ich würde es auch so machen wie du und wenn sie sich bewegt, würde ich wieder die Serienfunktion einschalten.

Das mit den Kolibris glaube ich dir gerne - Vögel im Flug gehören sowieso zu den schwierigsten Sachen und Kolibris schwirren schon ziemlich schnell herum. Die Profis nehmen sich da Tage oder auch Wochen Zeit oder arbeiten auch mit Lichtschranken und ähnlichen elektronischen Geräten.

Versuch mal den Tipp mit der Serienbildfunktion - die Canon hat auch eine Funktion, wo der Autofocus das Motiv verfolgt - heißt glaube ich Servo, aber ich komme damit nicht zurecht und sollte vielleicht genau das mal üben, denn viele Tierfotografen reden in den Youtube Videos davon.

Außenbereich? Das ist sicher super, dann sind die Vögelchen irgendwie draußen im Freien und können trotzdem nicht weg.

Genau so soll es sein. Sie können nun in die Sonne oder wenn sie duschen wollen auch in den Regen.

Nicht groß, sind ca. 3 Quadratmeter denke ich, aber wenn man die Höhe noch dazu nimmt sind ca 9 Kubikmeter und das ist für Vögel denke ich schon ne ganze Menge.

Jetzt haben sie geschützt für den Winter, offen für den Sommer und draußen für die Sonne.

Denke das ist optimal.

Guten Morgen Peter,

um meine "Fehltage" hier zu zählen reicht eine Hand, glaube ich ;)
... aber es werden mehr werden, denke ich. Momentan geht viel anderes im Kopf herum, und das Wichtigste ist die Familie.

Die meisten gauben, dass die Sache in ein paar Tagen vorbei sein wird, weil die Beschränkungen nur auf eine Woche befristet waren. Nach einer Woche wird man noch nicht mal Unterschiede bei den Verdachts- bzw bestätigten Fällen bemerken - momentan steigt die Kurve weiter an.
In Kärnten hatten wir von gestern auf heute +190% - das klingt viel, aber glücklicherweise sind es "nur" 41 Menschen insgesamt ... derzeit noch.

Ich habe noch keine Ahnung, ob ich heute was posten werde ... und auch nicht, ob es ein "normales" Posting werden wird, oder ob ich ein paar Sätze zu meiner Situation schreibe. Ich muss ohnehin schauen, ob ich genug Zeit finde.

Schmunzel muss ich, stelle Dich darauf ein, dass Du im April 10 volle Tage nichts posten kannst.

Vielleicht merkst Du jetzt schon so etwas wie eine Endschleunigung. Auch wenn Du sagst, Du musst Dich um Deine Familie kümmern, dann ist es genau das Gute was dieser Virus anrichtet.

Er wird uns Alle wieder mit unseren Angehörigen mehr zusammen führen. Egal wie das Spiel ausgeht. Ich will nicht wieder anfangen.

In ein paar Wochen werden wir wieder über das Ereignis reden.

Diese Zeit vergeht schnell für die welche etwas mit sich anzufangen wissen. Für Andere wird es schwer, denn sie werden es wieder lernen müssen.

Besorg Dir was zum lesen und Euch was zum spielen.

Strom wird wohl nicht ausfallen und zu essen usw. wird es auch genug geben.

Aber es Internet bzw. Medien und TV werden wohl für 10 Tage ausfallen im April. Davon kann man ausgehen.

Dazu kommen diese Ausgangssperren welche zu unserer Sicherheit eingerichtet werden.

Auch wenn Du es vielleicht nicht glaubst, behalte es im Hinterkopf.

Sorry, musste sein, aber du weißt, dass ich vollkommen anders denke.

Vielleicht mache ich heute doch einen kleinen Beitrag. Dann wirst du wahrscheinlich sagen, dass es kein Wunder ist, dass ich so denke, aber ich kann dir schon jetzt sagen, dass diese Annahme sehr falsch wäre.

Wie gesagt, ich hoffe, dass ich die Zeit finde, denn dank Virus ist genug zusätzlich zu tun und ich komme erst morgen wieder nach Hause.

Nun ja, ich bin Logistiker mit Schwerpunkt Facility Management und mein Arbeitgeber ist die Bundesregierung ... jetzt kommt sicher ein Aha von dir ;)
Ich konnte es vermeiden, im Corona Einsatzstab zu sein, weil dann käme ich noch weniger nach Hause, aber ich bin direkt dabei und habe mit meinen KollegInnen genug zu tun. Ab morgen machen wir aber aus Sicherheitsgründen Schichtdienst, was bedeutet eine Woche Arbeiten und die nächste Woche zu Hause zu bleiben - nächste Woche habe ich also frei und kann mich mit meiner Frau um unsere Kinder kümmern.

Meine Einstellung hat aber nichts mit meinem Beruf zu tun, das kannst du mir glauben ... und die Beamten die jeder aus den Witzen kennt, die gibt es schon lange nicht mehr, zumindest nicht bei uns ;)

Nun das war das erste was ich lerne durfte.

Was macht ein Eisenbahner wenn er hinfällt?
Er nimmt die Hände aus den Taschen :)

Kommt daher, dass die meisten die Hände in den Taschen versteckten wenn es was zu tun gab :)

Da kenne ich bei uns auch Gemeindearbeiter, diekönnten Eisenbahner sein.
Der Nachbar, woich aufgewachsen bin, war auch Eisenbahner. Der ist mit 45 in Pension gegangen. Hat irgendwas mit Schwerarbeit zu tun gehabt - komisch, oder ;)

Nein, heute muss der Eisenbahner genauso lange arbeiten wie die anderen. Außer wahrscheinlich die älteren mit alten Dienstverträgen und so weiter. Schwerarbeiterregelungen gibt es schon auch heute noch, aber ich glaube nicht, dass diese für Eisenbahner gelten, kenne mich damit aber nicht aus.

Ich darf es gar nicht sagen, diese Zeit liegt fast 50 Jahre zurück. Ja tatsächlich jubiliert diese Datum dieses Jahr zum 50. Mal.

Ich war 14 als ich bei der Bahn anfing und meine Lehre begann.

Ja, das waren noch andere Zeiten. Es hat sich doch viel geändert in den letzten Jahrzehnten, wenn sogar wir Beamte arbeiten müssen, dabei habe ich einen Dienstvertrag und keinen Arbeitsvertrag ;)

Denke bei Euch in Österreich ist das noch ein wenig anders als in Deutschland wo es ja keine Beamten mehr gibt. Rein rechtlich gesehen.

Das mit dem Beamtentum und unkündbarem Status usw ist auch bei uns nicht mehr so, wenn du neu anfängst, aber Österreich ist natürlich ein Beamtenstaat und Titel sind manchen wichtiger als viel Geld ;)

Schließlich habe ich fast 2 Jahre für Österreicher gearbeitet.

nö bis dahin bin ich erst noch ein Jahre für einen Deutschen gefahren, dann hatte ich noch einen festen Job um neben dem mit dem Taxifahren anzufangen was schließlich dann noch 20 Jahre gedauert hat.

Für den Ösi habe ich über Umweg Luxembourg gearbeitet.

Right, all we can do is to be patient and wait.
China is making progress and now we hope for Italy, but the whole country is now a restricted zone, so all our hopes and prayers go there.

It's not that easy, because although we are not locked up we should stay at home, and when I go out my children will want to go out too. They have their friends and SnapChat will become boring soon. So this will be a bigger problem, because thousands of children are at home and bored already ... we'll see what comes.

Waiting in patience is all we can do now ... and hope and pray :)

I believe the same situation here. It's hardest for the kids! Lots of energy and nowhere to spend .... The situation itself is difficult ....
Let's hope it goes away soon .... we can only pray ... Here's an aphorism ...

Hm, I know this story and this is one of the ends I have heard: After they were all saved, they thanked the rescuers and said that they saved them and not God and they became atheists again.

You know, there has always been a monster in world history ... cholera, the plague..
When civilization
sinks into fornication and immorality. When they overeat and when humanity disappears.
And something must get us back on the path of self and love. It may be time to reflect on our actions, and globally for states to think about what they can do to improve the lives of the entire population.

Wow, these are hard words, @suzana72, but I agree with you in most what you have said. For the next months we all will have enough time to think and be with the ones we love and I think when this all is over and we can go out again we will see our world and the other people with other eyes.
Hopefully we will make the right decisions, hopefully we will learn something from this crisis and hopefully we will make the world a better place when this is over.

Looks like signs of spring with the colourful little flower Johann.

. We are not in lockdown on PEI but asked to stay home unless necessary to go out. One lady has it here after coming home from a cruise. Schools, churches, social events all cancelled. This world-wide pandemic is something I never thought to see except In a futuristic movie.

I think on an island it is easier to control who is coming and going, and if you have only one case you should be able to manage that crisis, hopefully :)
It is a very strange feeling, although I love movies like Mad Max and such ;) ... but I really hope it does not go that far. All our prayers and hope go to Italy at the moment.

Thanks Johann for your generosity. ❤️ Italy and Spain have really been hit hard by this COVID-19.

The lady who brought it to the Island was on a cruise then a plane March 7 that landed in Moncton, New Brunswick ( neighbouring province on the mainland) then drove over the bridge to here. It’s hard to know how many people she was in contact with.

All we can do is hope and pray for this to pass. 🙏

Thanks a lot - they are something different from my usual photos I think, but in these times there's no chance for big vistas and such - I see it positive, because I have to practice macro and such anyway ;)

People spending more time with family, and appreciating what teachers do when they have to take over the teaching at home

Yes, that's true with the teachers and I am glad I don't have to do their work ... I have no idea what my daughter is learning anyway, but it is a lot for sure and the homework she now gets per e-mail seems to be a lot more than she usually gets.

Spending more time with the family is certainly a good and positive thing, but I wouldn't need a killer virus for that ;)

Yes neither me for a virus ot cause more family time, it has stopped us going to MA when the kids and grandkids are as we had planned, but this will pass

I always say I could never be a teacher especially if they have to deal with students like I was LOL

I don't drive that far and we are allowed to go for walks or do sports, as long as we are alone or with people we are living with together.
This is one of my favorite places to walk, because I hardly meet other people there and it's just a 20 minutes drive from home.

Yes, it's great, but it's not the same feeling as it used to be and I cannot shut off my thoughts about this crisis and what's going on. Maybe in a few weeks I or we will have got more used of this situation and it will be different.

I agree about how we see it in a few weeks because you know how adaptive people are and will accept the situation as the new normal.

That's what makes it dangerous for people in countries where the leaders will take advantage of the restrictions and all the power in the government's hands. They won't want to give all that power up when this clears.

In a few weeks we will see who will be worse - the Austrians which will still be in lockdown or the Americans after your funny president says a lockdown isn't neccessary anymore although you already have more infections than the Italian have ;)

I do hope that the government is stronger than him, but on the other hand everybody who says no to him gets fired.
Did you know that his family origins in Germany? His grandfather Frederick has been one of the first victims of the spanish flu in New York. So he should know how dangerous such a virus can be ;)

Well he will take the advice of the head doctor, Fauci, who has been right on target since they put him in charge. This isn't going to affect his political career, he'll be re-elected in 2020.

I have heard that almost all European news outlets are owned by Soros companies so they always have a negative bent toward the U.S. but of course I have no way to verify it.

Germans and Austrians have all been different from nowadays in these times I think, and I also think that it has been also the Austrians fault. We all have changed since then and you cannot compare the today's Germans with the Nazi's from that time - and most just didn't know it better. They got work, they got food, so "he" must be good ;)

I had to google him, because I have never heard of a George Soros, and Google showed me a photo - man, this guy looks ugly ;)

I don't know what he owns, I watch the Austrian / European news as well as I watch some US news on Youtube during this crisis. The states are becoming a new hotspot after China and Italy, and new York is the center, That's what all news agencies say. They also say that Trump wants to stop the lockdown because he thinks people will get mad and make suicides ... what's better: suicides or corona deaths?

This doctor Fauci is always standing behind him when he is speaking - I have seen him often behind the president. I hope he will do the right thing. At least they should wait until Easter when we should know if our lockdown was the right thing to do.

It's just a personal thing that I don't like him, and it has nothing to do with Germans and Austrians nor with the United States.

Well we won't be lifting the lockdown rules, they will get tougher like Trump is talking about doing, I listen to his briefing everyday and have not heard him talk about stopping the lockdowns, he won't do that. In fact he talked today about locking down the entire state of NY by Executive Order.

New Yorkers are crazy. Today on the news they showed them in big crowds everywhere! They are paying no attention to the lockdown orders so they will pay a very big price soon.

The Governor said today that hospitals will be overrun in a few weeks as infections increase and called New Yorkers: ignorant, selfish, irresponsible and a few other things! So yes they are the worst new hotspot in the world and they are bringing it on themselves. SMH!

We've been watching Soros try to destroy America for 30 years now. Every radical group and socialist politician are funded by him or his companies. He hates our liberty and freedoms. By the way, he IS super ugly! lol.. and so are his tactics and his hate for our country. It's a spiritual thing really. He actually hates God and works for God's enemy Satan.

That's good to hear and certainly the best and only option in my eyes.

We are waiting for good news which hopefully will come next week, telling us that our lockdown is working.

So many people don't understand why social distancing is so very important now. They listen, they say they understand, but then they forget, and later they wonder why things get worse. That's stupid and a shame and so sad. I feel for the doctors and nurses who would have an easier and safer life if the people wouldn't be that stupid.

I told you I have never heard about this Soros, but I tell one more thing: I cannot imagine anything more scary than meeting Trump and Soros in a narrow alley at night ;) lol

I agree, the people make things so much worse. Apparently it is just human nature to think they are invincible. I was so sad to hear that 51 doctors in Italy have died from the virus trying to save others.

That should be a wake up call to everyone. People are idiots, especially tourists!

Yesterday I read an article showing crowds of people in New York City ignoring the stay-at-home orders! The Governor called them ignorant, selfish and irresponsible. They will actually start another wave of infections. Thank God Austrians are smarter than that.

I do hope the Austrians will be smarter in future too, my friend, because our restrictions have gone one step further: from Wedensday on we have to wear masks when we go shopping - this will avoid infecting the shop workers and other customers.

So everyone was out of masks over there too, that sounds right. Over there they keep talking everyday about new manufacturing plants starting to make masks so we'll eventually have them, takes awhile to make many hundreds of millions of them.

Because everybody needs a mask who goes shopping we have not enough yet, but these masks should arrive tomorrow at the shops and when you enter a shop you will get one for free. Also there is only a defined amount of people allowed in the shops, depending on the size of the shop.
We will see in a few days how this will work, but they are already talking about people having to use a mask on busses or trains and in the cities in general.

Yes, I also think it is a good idea, and yes, there should be security guards outside of the stores ... I am curious how this will work. It will look like an Apple shop when people sleep in front of the store because of a new phone ;)
