Water flow ... Water fall

avatar

My todays' post is somehow the result of a lazy day and a hint of a friend.

Water flow ... Water fall

Water flow ... Water fall

As many of you might already know, waterfalls belong to my favourite photo motifs, but I haven't taken many photos in the past months, for reasons we've all suffered from for over a year and because of too much work and too little time to do all I would love to do.

However, after many almost too hot Summer days, today is nice and cool and foremost it's pouring down from the sky since last night. So I have decided to have a lazy day and only edit some photos for my NFT gallery on Foundation.

In between I have looked through the latest Hive posts and replied to some comments. My friend from Downunder, @kohsamui99, who provides us with photos of the most amazing sunrises and sunsets on beaches around the world, meant that such a lazy day would be a good excuse for going through my archives and make a post.
At first I thought "lazy day is lazy day and I'm doing something anyway", but then, whilst editing some waterfalls, I changed my mind and thought "why not?" 😁

So here they are, from small or better said almost no waterfalls at all, because there's only flowing emerald green water to see, to quite huge, the big waterfall in Šunikov vodni gaj, the Šunik water grove in Slovenia.

Let's begin in the year 2019: the emerald green Soča River is a beautiful river in the Soča Valley in Slovenia, about an hour drive away from my home, but two mountain passes are on the way inbetween. I have taken this photo in May 2019.

The Emerald Green Soča River in Slovenia

Šunikov vodni gaj aka Šunik Water Grove is a little area in the Lepena Valley in Slovenia. I love the small and the huge waterfalls there, the mossy rocks and boulders the water is flowing over, and the old grown beech forest around the gorge.
This photo of some small cascades was taken in September 2019 in an area which tourists usually don't find.

Little Waterfall in Šunikov vodni gaj, Lepena Valley - Slovenia

The next waterfall is a little bit bigger and it is in my home country Carinthia in Austria. There's a path through a gorge and a forest north of my home town, which is called "Abenteuer Wasser Weg" what means "Adventure Water Way".
You can walk through the gorge, mostly along the creek and will see lots of waterfalls and other interesting things, such as pieces of art in the middle of the forest. I have shown some of these in another post quite a while ago.
In August 2020 I came by this waterfall which reminded me on a bride's white wedding dress .

Abenteuer Wasser Weg in Sörg, Austria

Then the pandemic has arrived and stopped most of my and also your activities. I have promised not to write about it and I try to keep to my promise by adding a nice little poem instead.

The Rivulet

Run, little rivulet, run!
Summer is fairly begun.
Bear to the meadow the hymn of the pines,
And the echo that rings where the waterfall shines;
Run, little rivulet, run!

Run, little rivulet, run!
Sing of the flowers, every one,-
Of the delicate harebell and the violet blue;
Of the red mountain rose-bud, all dripping with dew;
Run, little rivulet, run!

Run, little rivulet, run!
Stay not till summer is done!
Carry the city the mountain-birds' glee;
Carry the joy of the hills to the sea;
Run, little rivulet, run!

by Lucy Larcom

After months of not being able to leave the country, in June 2021 I could visit the Šunikov vodni gaj in the Lepena Valley again and was happy that nothing has changed there. This is the biggest waterfall in the water grove and it was as beautiful as ever.

Šunikov vodni gaj, Lepena Valley - Slovenia
Šunikov vodni gaj, Lepena Valley - Slovenia

Las but not least, I have visited the Šunikov vodni gaj again in July 2021 and besides a lot of other photos I have taken an image of a small cascading waterfall again.
Somehow, I do prefer these tiny waterfalls for two resaons: The big waterfalls look mighty and powerful, but these smaller ones have the beauty and foremost, you will not find many photos of them in the internet, while of the big waterfalls there are tons of photos. You just need to google Šunikov vodni gaj and count how many times you see the big waterfall above.

Small Waterfall in Šunikov vodni gaj, Lepena Valley - Slovenia

I am glad that @kohsamui99 has motivated me to make a post today and that I haven't been too lazy to edit some of the waterfall photos I have taken, but now my today's post has come to its end and all that's left are my best wishes for you to enjoy a wonderful weekend ... South Africa, my thoughts are with you, please take care.

Good evening @johannpiber 🤗

You made me so happy when I saw the waterfall ..... I missed them 🤗

I enjoyed the beauty you managed to capture ...🥰
And in the bride's dress .. And in the poem that goes with these photos ..... It's a magical area, and if there are no fairies, roosters ... and hobbits .. I don't know where there is ?!🤭

The last photo, when I look a little longer, it's as if I'm present there and enjoying the waterfalls ....

Even when you're lazy, it can turn out well😉

I wish you a wonderful Sunday ☀️ dear @johannpiber 😊

it's still rainy here, but your kind words will make the clouds dissolve, I hope 😁

I like editing the photos, but I am so very lazy in thinking and writing at the moment ... I'm glad that I did it yesterday 😃

Have a wonderful Sunday too, dear @Suzana72 🤗🌞

So I can use the day as fast as possible☀️☀️

Thank you very much ☀️🌼☀️

I’m glad you had a lazy day to post these magical photos of the waterfalls Hannes. Kudos to @kohsamui99 for spurring you on. :)

As you mentioned, the smaller ones have the beauty and one doesn’t often see them on the internet.

Lovely poem. I especially like this line, ‘ Carry the joy of the hills to the sea.’

Have a wonderful weekend or what’s left of it dear Hannes.😊☀️

Good morning Jo,

there are not many waterfall poems around, at least on the pages where I search. I am glad you like the one I have found.

There's not much of the weekend left, and what's left looks quite rainy at the moment, but I thank you so much for your kind words, dear Jo, and I wish you also a wonderful Sunday 🤗🌞

To be honest, I'm no big fan of nature paintings like landscapes or waterfalls or such - when I like a painting then it's more the abstract kind of arts, but I have a few of my photos hanging on the walls 😁

Good morning and thank you so much for the "Damn!", I like this word, especially when it's followed by a compliment 😃

Wish you a wonderful Sunday, my friend 🌞

Oh really? Abstract works are always stunning and makes you see things you wouldn't see in real life. Good to know you like those ones.

Haha, you know how it feels when on sees something marvelous? That's when the mouth will spit out that work "Damn".😊

Happy Sunday to you.

I think my love for abstract paintings began when I first saw the Swatch "Sam Francis" many, many years ago. I couldn't afford it back then, but later I have bought one. But I am not obsessed by art, not even by mine 😉

Yep, this word doesn't mean anything bad, at least when used in such a way 😁

Good morning and thank you so much, JJ, I'm happy you like the photos 😊

I've got an invitation and then I have realized that my images are nice but not nice enough ... in other words, it's really hard to select photos for Foundation when you have to pay for having them there for sale ;)
Maybe I should Twitter more like the other photographers do, but that's so much additional work, although it might really pay off.
You can't see how many votes you have got, but you've got mine for sure and if I should make a sale you might get an invite 😁

I hope your Sunday started fine, my friend. Here it has been more gray and wet, but the sun has come out right before. Maybe I take the chance and go for a short ride, but I will always look up where the dark clouds are ⛈️
... as I am writing this it's getting dark outside again - I'll wait ;)

You do the most beautiful waterfall shots! I am impressed that your smaller waterfalls have such a big impact, but, only because of the way your eyes see them and you photograph them. I sincerely mean that.

When you love something as fiercely as you do, it usually shows up in your work somehow. For you, it is nature, many times, water. I really loved the moss-covered area in the Slovenia waterfall. The one is best kept as a secret so it doesn't get overrun by tourists. It has a way of changing the peaceful moments that you gather from there. The Scca River shot is so moving with your editing. I can see why the one-shot reminds one of a bridal gown.

Thanks for the beauty, even though I am a little late getting here, it was a pleasant journey walking through your post. Thanks to @kohsamui99 for giving the push!

Have a wonderful week ahead!

As always I thank you so much for your very kind words and compliments, dear Denise 🤗 It's always a pleasure to read your comments.

Over time the tourists will find these places too, but as long as Slovenia doesn't built paths along the second little river, they will not be able to destroy the now hidden beauty.
I have overdone the Soča shot a little bit, but I also like it the way it is now, thank you that you think the same .

I hope you're also having a wonderful week 🌞

Thanks for kind message remembering us here during troubling times, quieter today hopefully slowly start to rebuild after a destructive week swept through last week.

Smaller falls, I agree they tend to capture a more intimate part of life, moss, rocks and plants living in the surrounds, big or tall waterfalls are breathtaking, but then everyone does tend to photograph them.

A wonderful set of photography from both Slovenia and Austria Johann, just what the doctor ordered today, peace, calm and quiet. Submerged myself into these wonderful pieces of nature.

Good evening and thank you so much kindly for these nice words, Joan, I really appreciate that you like them.

I hope that all settles down and normal life comes back. Our world is different and confusing since last year anyway, and such a war for nothing in the end makes it only worse. That's only what I think about it from far, far away.

All the big waterfalls have been photographed a million times and everyone has the same photo - that's boring. I am glad that think about the same and that my photos helped you a bi tto calm down in these troubled times.

It's finding the alluring small areas that make ones imagination run more into gentle dreams, compared to flamboyant large drops where one is unable to capture intricate detail.

Imagination is stronger than sight, being a tiny people able to walk in a forest of moss with water drops hitting the ground around on red rocks gleaming through the undergrowth.

Only exception was Victoria Falls where it becomes a spiritual adventure, you are dwarfed looking up as water exploded over the ridge.

Having witnessed many waterfalls, Victoria had a unique feeling of awe, so looking is not quite the same as experiencing through photography, finding gentle spots speaks volumes.... well to me!

Oh yes, I know the Victoria Falls, haven't been there personally, but I have seen this huge waterfall in videos and photos. That's something completely different I can imagine, and the word spiritually suits very well in my eyes - being only dwarfed seems too big compared to these mighty falls.

Imagination is stronger than sight - I agree.

It's always nice when I get back to the normal tourist path from the other area, knowing that I have seen better views - it's like having a little secret 😉

Special places you find it's best kept secret, people don't realize how destructive they are even in nature.

Ones soul yearns for spaces we knew where no one ever went, totally tranquil.

Still learning of news, (outside our small province), of the devastation running riot through Western Europe with flooding, hope all your family and friends are safe! Now things like covid appear so small (invisible tidal waves), when natural/man-made disasters start hitting..., one does not remember that mask when assisting others through trauma!

Many people are going wild camping here since the pandemic has started last year, and you can't imagine what they leave behind - from bottles of all kind to baby diapers.

Oh yes, thank you, we are safe - best weather since yesterday and while there was flooding in the north we have only had some rain and moaned about that. Yep, while helping the people, nobody has thought about the pandemic which is still going on, and I think that's good that way because I never believed in the masks. They only slowed down what would have come anyway.

I keep the few places I know for me, that's for sure 😁
