Bittrex says they will disable STEEM wallets prior to the HF

Bittrex just put out a statement saying they are going to disable STEEM deposits and withdrawals and monitor the situation surrounding the upcoming HF...

Their announcement can be seen here:

(Source: https://bittrex.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360043411632-Statement-on-the-Steem-network-STEEM-SBD-version-0-23-proposed-hard-fork)

It isn't entirely clear what it will take for them to open the STEEM wallets back up.

Stay informed my friends.

So trading will still continue, but without a guarantee that STEEM can be withdrawn? Assuming they will eventually enable withdrawals once its more clear how this situation will play out.

It sounds like trading will continue yes, they specifically said deposits and withdrawals.

They need some time to rebuild their binaries... After that they are required to enable withdrawals for few days before they can unlist the coin. Only when the new daemons are completely unusable, they can unlist the coin without re-enabling wallets.

Nothing to do with this post but I think you may have fucked up, I seen your converting loads of HBD internally but i'm not sure it is going to work out well, if you are doing it for profit anyway. I am waiting until it goes back to normal to do it

What do you mean by back to normal?

Well back to $1, I was talking to inertia and he say's the internal conversion takes the 3 day internal exchange price. Currently it is at 0.4 so I am not too sure if it is worth it at the moment

As long as the internal median price feed stays below the purshased rate it's a profitable operation especially at the discounted price that you can get for HBD right now.

Note: conversions are executed with the internal median price feed not the market rate.

So it will be the price that is on hiveblocks.com?

It's the median price of the last 3.5 days taken from the witnesses feed at the time of the conversion. To be honest I am not sure if the price shown on hiveblocks.com is the median of the last 3.5 days or if it's the "current" price taken from the witnesses feed.

(Edited)

I was holding on to some steem to dump once Justin pumps it but I just sold most of it because all this negative press may cause people who hadn’t planned on dumping to cut this pump short. And who knows. They might even end up delisting depending on what happens next

Does this have anything to do with the sudden 50% increase in STEEM price in the past day or so?

Let's just wait for the play of both sides. We are the user and the community helper.

This looks so fishy and something is doing some dark magic over the market. Pump and dump are the words of the day.

I withdrawn yesterday some of the steem to biitrex, now it's the time to do trading.

thanks for the updates. do you know the exact timing of hardfork ?

Most legit exchanges will unlist Steem and SBD if the hard fork goes through. Contentious hard forks are most likely against listing requirements as no action performed by coin developers can cause liability to the exchange.
