Beautiful Sunday: looking around the countryside and planting trees.

The weather in the countryside by the border between Laos and Nongkhai is wonderful! Night time temperature is around 14 degree Celsius and daytime is around 25 degree Celsius. The gentle wind and blue sky makes me want to just sit there doing nothing all day. But, alas we have so much work to do in the garden.

My old college friend gave me many young saplings and small trees last week. So, this weekend we had to start planting those which I had brought along on the train. Winter time is the best time to be up north or north-east. Villages have been growing tomatoes, lettuce, chili, coriander, cabbages and Chinese green. A friend drop by to give new loaf of home made bread, so we took him for a short walk along the country road. He has been a very keen gardener and given us several cuttings of Moringa and a bag full of seeds. Some seeds have already become germinated; we hope to grow about twenty Moringa trees. The leaves could be eaten for medicinal purposes and we hope to be able to sell some young cuttings in the future.

Luckily the afternoon sun was not too harsh so we could get a lot done in two hours. My friend gave me a nice Avocado tree which was quite expensive. In the past I did mange to grow two avocado trees from seeds but they died during the flood two years ago. It would be nice to have our own avocados to supplement our diet in a few years’ times. The avocados in supermarkets have become too expensive for us these days. We now have about four avocado trees in our garden. It would be nice to be able to make some pocket money from selling avocados too.

We planted all the six Moringa cuttings and nine Mahogany saplings in the nearby field. With the uncertainty of future global conflicts and predicted natural disasters (earthquakes, meteorites and weakened earth magnetic shield), we need to switch to self-sufficiency lifestyle. Farming and gardening are a good way to spend the retirement phase.

Living close to nature has improved my health and spiritual connection with the earth including the spirits worlds. I often do walking meditation after watering the plants in the evening. There seems to be other living forces or energies in nature which most people are just too occupied to notice or observe. The stars twinkled in the dark sky at night telling me of other living beings on other planets far away; perhaps someone up there was also thinking the same thought.

An elderly cyclist, over eighty years old, came to buy some tomatoes and vegetables from villagers. Her fashion sense was just amazing and outstanding in the village!

I sometimes sent my message into outer space. There was a reply asking me if I was sure I wanted to meet them in persons. I had to decline the offer as I had no idea what we could be chatting about and it would such a waste of their time and energy. But, I did make a request for them to help me out in times of natural disaster. I had a dream and a premonition several years ago. These have recently become the taking points of seismic experts and physicists. Over the years, my premonitions were quite accurate and my close friends believed I must have psychic ability plus healing power too; I could heal my friends’ dogs in the past. I think everyone has that innate potential but has neglected to live a lifestyle that is harmonious with nature.

(Avocado tree planting)

Looking at the afternoon sunshine on the trees and in the fields just warmed my heart and filled me with gratitude. I could never imagine that I would be standing in the field planting trees when I was studying very hard in library in a foreign land long time ago.

My friend also gave me a special Gold apple tree. The orange cats came out to inspect our work as usual.

Thank you! These veggies belong to the local villagers! You’ll have to buy these at a very cheap price!

But I talked to them nicely so they gave me some as gift!

Planting trees are not financially rewarding but beneficial for the planet. The ironies of life! Anyway, there is correlation between studying hard in the library and growing trees if one is specializing in agricultural science. 😂

Hahaha. Yep! Planting trees is very good for the whole planet. I wish I could get all the rare trees which are not found easily in the market.

Cheers.

Oh my, your garden is absolutely amazing. I wish I could work in my garden all year round. Unfortunately, it is only possible where I live between May and September. Maybe it's time for me to build a green house!

My actual garden is limited to fruit trees, bananas and bamboos!

The allotments are for villagers’ vegetable patches so as to maintain a livelihood and sustainable life style.

I also need a small green house for more expensive vegetables just in case I could earn some income from these in the future. That’s my long term plan any way.

Good to know that you are very well and having a good time at home with family. You ought to have a good rest!

Cheers.

We are also enjoying cool nights and mornings, although much below 14C is no longer pleasant LOL... and COLD when I get up early!! Brrrrr.....

Sending love and good wishes to you and your family for the New Year. x

Hahaha. You feel cold too easily!
Good to know that you had a fast and nice move to a new local area in Chiengmai. The local market looks wonderful! You should charge the local for taking selfies with you! Tell them, the money is for cats’ food and shelter!! Hahaha. Do it just for fun! Soon you’ll be on the local news then you could promote your products indirectly!! LoL
