Hive Creative Contest | Super Me || Aracne || My favorite super hero: Spider-Woman.
Greetings #Hive community. Like @Zord189, books and mythology were very present in my childhood. My father was a lover of reading and especially of the different mythologies, so much so, that all my brothers have mythical Greek, Roman and Scandinavian names.
Since we were little we were taught the meaning of our names, so when I saw this contest Super Me I loved it and I tell you why.
My middle name is Aracne. Do you know who she is? In Greco-Roman mythology, Aracne was a maiden, very skilled in the art of weaving. The tapestries he created were so beautiful that the Nymphs came to admire them. On one occasion Aracne dared to say that she was the best, something that did not please the Goddess Athena, since this art was dominated by her.
If you ask me what mythical character would I like to be? I would say Aracne for two things:
For being challenging, if we want something, we must fight for it. Arachne dared to challenge a Goddess to prove her worth.
Persistence, Aracne was very tenacious and fast creating her fabrics, her fabrics had to be perfect.
What I do not like about Aracne in the myth, considering it a character defect is arrogance since the moment the Goddess Athena does not recognize her work, in an attack of anger she decides to hang herself but Athena does not let her die and punishes her eternally turning her into a spider.
Leaving the mythical world to enter the Marvel Universe. As a child I always identified with Spider Woman by my name, some relatives and friends lovingly call me arachnid or spider.
Spider Woman in the Marvel universe her story is almost similar to Aracne's, only this time the character Jessica Drew was bitten by a poisonous spider and her father gave her a life-saving serum that altered her DNA developing powers and abilities arachnids. She covers up her identity by posing as a private investigator but as criminals escape from prison to fight them she uses the Spider Woman costume.
I would like to be the Spider Woman for being a brave woman who with her arachnid powers fights against the evil, the corruption and the injustice that exists in the world.
