Hello Hivers of the world

I'm making this post at the last minute because I have had multiple survival occupations.

Many Venezuelans publish in HIVE but do not do so to talk about the sad reality of Venezuela. HIVE is a place to avoid all the injustices we suffer daily. HIVE is a platform through which we obtain rewards, in crypto-money, that allow us to live with dignity. HIVE is a place to let our imagination run wild and not think about politics.

Because of what I mentioned before, I think that many Venezuelans are not interested in writing about the reality of Venezuela because to write about it is to put salt on an open wound.

I'm not going to place my photographs because the ones I have are too overwhelming.

Having said all this, I am going to try to make a super summary (from my point of view) of the Venezuelan reality.

Since 1999, Venezuelan politics have changed for the worse and have led Venezuela to ruin. Without fear of being mistaken, in this year 2020, one can count more than 50% of student desertion at all levels (elementary school, high school, and university).

More than 60% of the education infrastructure has deteriorated. More than 40% of university personnel have abandoned their jobs and even many professionals have emigrated from the country.

My salary, as a university administrative employee, is $3 per month. I have a university degree and a Masters in Planning.

As for the health infrastructure, it is much neglected. Three days ago I had to go to the Cumaná Hospital and I practically cried from the indignation. Hospital waste is placed in open dumps, in areas very close to the hospital space, without any kind of check-up.

Public transportation is in chaos. I have a vehicle that I had to stop for 2 months due to lack of gasoline. During that time I had to do all the errands on foot. That means walking approximately 15 kilometers a day without being sure of achieving the goal.

When the government bought gasoline we had to stand in queues for 3 and 4 days to get 20 liters of fuel at a subsidized price. You can also queue for 5-7 hours to get fuel at a dollar price.

During these 20 years, there have been occasions of the shortage of food products, personal hygiene, home cleaning, and medicines, among the most critical.

In Venezuela, the Bolivar is totally devalued. Daily we must review the purchase and sale of dollars to know what the prices of the products may be in the businesses.

The paper money in Venezuela is almost disappeared. Economic transactions are made through debit cards or bank transfers. This is not bad; the absurdity is that products are more expensive bought with debit cards. That is if people pay in cash the product is cheaper (and there is no cash!).

Thousands of people have emigrated from the country. They help their families by sending them money through the black market. They have helped the survival of their families but this has caused terrible damage to those who do not receive money from abroad because it has increased speculation in the prices of products.

Some product prices: 1 kilo powdered milk (Bs. 6 million), 1-kilo ground meat (Bs. 4.3 million), 1-kilo cheese (Bs. 2.3 million), 1-kilo rice (Bs. 630 thousand), 1-kilo maize flour (Bs. 700 thousand), 1 chicken of 1.6 grams (Bs. 3.8 million). Change Bs - $ (26 Nov 2020) Bs. 920 thousand = $1.

Sometimes, Venezuelans in HIVE write about the problems of internet connection. I will explain it. In Venezuela, the connection is very slow and many are non-existent. To publish we need to be connected. If there is no light during some hours and no internet at other hours, we have reduced the hours of the day during which we can upload a publication.

In the last months, we have had many problems with domestic gas. More than 90% of Venezuelan homes use gas stoves. The attention of this service has diminished drastically, that is to say, there is no gas.

In my house, in the last month, we were cooking with wood. This means that I have spent many hours of the day trying to cook food.

Electric stoves are not a solution either because the electrical instability is permanent.

As far as social classes are concerned, there is currently an abysmal separation. There is a high social class that has access to dollars and lives very well. This social class is represented by approximately 6% of the population.

The rest of the population survives on $1 a month. In other words, there is a new world social class here that is more miserable than misery.

I'm just finishing up.

Since 1999, press, television, and radio media have been closed. The government created alternative media, called community media, which have functioned as the government's propaganda media.

In Venezuela, there is a Law of Radio Communications that obliges to transmit the official signal during a time that the government considers convenient. This may mean that for several hours the same government statement is transmitted on all TV and radio channels.

As to newspapers, many have gone bankrupt due to lack of paper and others have been censored.

Finally, I will talk a little bit about the elections.

As of the year 2000, elections in Venezuela are counted by software created by the company Smartmatic.

I have worked in several elections as a witness in a voting center. In honor of the truth, the results of the polling stations where I have worked have been published exactly by the official website of the National Electoral Council.

Polling stations where there are no opposition-endorsed witnesses present results in favor of the government 80% to 20%. In other words, in those places, there is a manipulation of votes in favor of the government.

There is a serious problem in what is called "assisted voting". This is a right that allows voters to be accompanied by people they trust to exercise their vote.

What is the problem? Assisted voting has become a coercive vote. That is, voters are accompanied by people who are affected by the government, and they vote for the government.

These voters generally do not have any physical problems that prevent them from voting. Nevertheless, they give their vote to the accompanying Chavista in exchange for food or some necessary material for their homes, which they cannot acquire due to the high cost of living.

I'm going to stop here. The situation in Venezuela is very complex. We have gradually lost many human rights such as freedom of expression and information.

We have also lost economic rights and social rights (acquisition of housing, access to education, health services).

The oil industry is ruined and the tourism industry is destroyed.

Each problem is a best seller or the description of a doctoral thesis, and we cannot approach it in isolation but rather in a multifactorial way.

I would like you to make comments or ask me questions after reading to clarify things that have not been clearly stated by me.

Thank you for reading!

This participation was made to explain some situations in Venezuela. You can check the following link A Dash of Sult N Papper 11/21/20> On the verge of 65… and a writing contest… details inside.

Hi, I'm glad to see you competing, I was feeling very lonely and isolated. Jejej

Thank you for your participation, and reading you made me realize that my presentation was a little short, for not wanting to add more salt to the wound as you say.

You know I'm glad you have a car keeping it running in Venezuela is a great effort. I have not had the opportunity to have one and well I am a Venezuelan on foot, we travel miles to buy something

Thanks to that I am so thin, the only good thing is that I don't need a gym 😬.

As you say hiveive has been the best distraction we've ever had, the best way to make the most of our time and feel free.

😘🤗

Hello @soyunasantacruz. I read your publication although I didn't comment it.

My hours for HIVE are few for all the occupations I do.

Hive has been the best distraction we've had, the best way to make the most of our time and feel free.

Yes, I do reiterate!

I think that Venezuelans do not want to spend their time at HIVE to write about all the problems we have.

We prefer to write story and poetry, draw, dream, and think about a better world and a free Venezuela.

I have a car and it is like not having one. It is too expensive to pay for repairs and now it is too expensive to pay for the fuel.

I started to write and I thought I would never finish. So many issues were missing: oil, tourism, destruction of universities, perversity in the elections, impunity in justice, todos los servicios públicos ineficientes... it is too grotesque what we live.

I forgot to say that we are a brave people. Both those who emigrate and those of us here in Venezuela are very brave!

We have not given up. We are simply a little tired of politicians and their usual lies.

I'm writing a lot...

Thanks for the comment. Greetings and many successes in whatever you are doing!

Thank you, this comment fills any previous gaps hehe.

In my publication I summarized in two sentences what I had to say. Place there are many things to mention and others that I don't want to mention.

I am doing little reality, our country takes up a lot of time, in queues, looking for solutions, but I am dedicated to dreaming so as not to see reality, I dream and I hold on to the hope of a better future.

I thank the day to day, and I breathe.

I liked your post, thanks. 🤗
