Late Summer Wetness

August is the rainiest month of the year in this climate (Finland, between the 60th and the 70th northern latitudes). Although rainfall is relatively evenly distributed across the months, it still rains, on average, about twice as much in millimetres in August than in February, which is the driest month. It is hardly surprising because February is the coldest month of the year and while August is not the warmest, it comes right after the warmest month which is July.

The summer is beginning to end. You can see some early signs of the summer turning into autumn like those yellow leaves on those bushes. Yesterday, when I drove to Hämeenlinna, I noticed a lot of plants on the roadside that had begun turning brown. The dominant color will be yellow and brown only after maybe three weeks from now. But that heavily depends on the weather. If its colder than usual, that may happen sooner. If the warmth of the summer persists, then the summer may continue many weeks longer.

This one wanted to come in. She does not like the rain, either.
