River Walk

I drove down to the river for a photo walk today. These are the upper reaches of the river Porvoo that discharges into the Gulf of Finland about 80 km south of here in the historic town of Porvoo.

Here's a link to an old post of mine about the town:

We would probably have visited Porvoo if it weren't for the fact that the Covid-19 situation is getting worse in this country and in the region of Uusimaa where Porvoo is in particular. ICU patients have been moved from Uusimaa to other parts of the country to ensure that ICU beds in the region will not run out.

The national government dealt with the situation quite well a year ago but they have neglected too many things since then and the situation seems to be getting out of hand now.

But enough of that.

The snow depth was probably around 30 cm. But it was hard as concrete (well, not quite, but surprisingly hard) and very easy to walk on even for a man of my size. What happens in the spring is that the snow melts during the day and re-freezes during the night.
