Design of a Senators style top and DIY of how to fix a chest pocket

Hello Hive

I got the remaining piece of this fabric after making a top and trouser for my brother and instead of having it wasting, I decided to try a different design on it.

Like I often liked doing something different and mixing color I used bias to give a different touch to this as well but this one has a front pocket with a touch of black to make it a different design of its own.

Here is the earlier design I made but with a different arrangement of the bias strip.

The earlier design I made has no pocket but since this top has no trouser but would be work On black I felt like having more black color on it.
This is how I went about addind a touch of black on the pocket as well.

Pocket dimension is 6 inches depth by 5inches width then you make it into the triangle and place at the 9inches line from the shoulder length

Cutting

Using an adult measurement here I had the bodice cut separately and the flap, neck bias and every other parts ready.

The collar stay is often added to the flap to make it stiff and firm so I use a 1.5inches width by 10inches depth dimension to cut a collar stay and attach to the fabric using pressing iron.

This is how the label looks like which will then be fixed to the center opening of the front bodice.

Men's cloth are different from women and since the neckline is usually up and high the lapel serve as an opening where the neck head can pass through easily.
Hence the reason for the lapel.

I haven't even snapped or shown tutorial on how to fix a lapel.
I found it challenges when j first started and would like to do a tutorial on that as well.

Thanks for visiting my blog today
